[ She's woken by Djali's bleating of terror, nipping and butting against her bed, and in a moment, the gypsy's eyes snap open their alarmed turquoise. For a split second, she's frozen in fear, but as soon as she is, she leaps out of her bed, yanking the bedspread hard off of it. Then the sheet. That wouldn't be enough

[Mr. Dragon here had snuck out of the gym to patrol a bit, to check on Hiccup's room, just to make sure there wasn't anything plotting to hurt his Tiny Viking. Paranoid? You bet.
He bristles at the scent of the smoke... it could have been another dragon, or something else he should know to use towards protecting Hiccup.
But that cry for help... it was a human. A human he didn't know. A memory of Hiccup sparring him back in Berk, releasing him from his bonds... because he could see how scared Toothless was, and felt just as frightened.
And now, another human was terrified. Something stirs within the dragon, and he charges down the hallway to see a girl, trying to open a box. He slows down and approches her warily... she was still a human, still dangerous, perhaps dragon-hating like most everyone else. His tail twiches and he paces side to side a little, wings held up over his head to make him look bigger. He growls inquisitively, eyeing the box she was trying to get into.]
what a coincidence finding you here! (no, seriously.)notsoscarynameJune 26 2011, 05:50:56 UTC
[It had taken him a little while to notice that Toothless was missing, but when he did, Hiccup automatically limped out of the gym in search for him. Which was kind of stupid in the mist, but Hiccup was NOT about to let Toothless out of his sight again.
Eventually, he hears a cry for help and notices smoke--that must be where Toothless is! He begins limping his way towards the smoke and the commotion, his leg still aching.
Finally, he gets there, and he stands with his mouth agape for a few moments before he begins gesturing wildly with his right arm--the only one that was really responding right now.]
Toothless, you--what did you do?! What's--oh gods! This--what do I--
[He doesn't even manage to finish his sentence because it's then that he spots Esmeralda. He makes his way over, trying to avoid getting burnt and, noticing what she was doing, begins to help her with the hose box. Despite having only one functional arm right now.]
[ Esme had fallen back onto the ground in fear. Never had she seen any living creature of this size! Coupled with the smoke, Toothless seemed huge in comparison. Next thing she knows, a boy. Toothless must be it's name. She jars the box open with his help and wrestles out the hose without thinking twice about his not working arm. Was he blaming---Well, she didn't know if it really was the dragon or not. Her sliced up (and very much still bleeding) feet would account for Toothless later.
Wrenching the hose closer to the searing heat of the fire, she goes for the valve to release the water. Though she isn't sure she can do both at the same time; holding the hose ad turning on a jetstream of water. Business now, talking later. ]
Could you hold this?
[ She means the hose. Turning the valve would be so much easier with both hands rather than one. ]
fires = dragons. It had to be done XDgiantskykittenJune 27 2011, 17:07:19 UTC
[Oh, yes, just because he was being paranoid about your safety and came to check your room for clues totally means this fire is his fault.
Right.
But now that Hiccup's here, this fire is a threat to his safety, and Toothless can't have that. While you two figure out that contraption, Mr. Dragon here is going to zoom into the room and start rolling around to help smother the fire.
[Well, sorry, but Toothless standing around a fire looks kind of incriminating! Especially since the mist does not make for a very stable dragon.
Hiccup doesn't notice Toothless starting to try and smother the fire because he's busy focusing on helping Esmeralda. He takes the hose from her, awkwardly gripping it with his right hand while clamping it down between his arm and his side. He has no idea what the deal here is, but the box says that this is in case of fire, so clearly they're doing something right here!]
/SHOULD PROBABLY TURN ON NOTIFS.outcastinparisJune 29 2011, 01:38:16 UTC
[ Ten points for Toothless! Because what dragon would want to put out a fire that it set itself? Esmeralda still isn't sure just what the huge beast is, but if it were anything, it was actually helping stop the spread of flames down the hallway.
She hasn't noticed just yet that the boy can't hold onto the hose very well. And she probably won't notice until she turns that valve open, and water comes rushing in, inflating the otherwise flat canvas and gushing out the end.
Because let's face it, the huge and heavy red can to the left of the tan hose looked eons more complicated.
Hopefully the force doesn't blow the viking away. ]
/SHOULD PROBABLY CHECK INBOX. giantskykittenJuly 14 2011, 15:53:07 UTC
[H-hey! No water!
Toothless sputters and hisses, looking quite ferocious. But the fire was still raging, and he had a tiny viking to protect. So, for now, he'll unhappily work with the water to extinguish the flames.
[Oh, it's definitely blowing him away. With only one arm to grasp onto the hose and feeling as though his legs were gelatin, the force of the water coming out of the hose blows him backwards off his feet and onto the floor.
Thankfully, he at least managed to keep the hose aimed the right way, roughly.]
fffffffffffffff why am i still not getting notifs wthhhhhhoutcastinparisJuly 17 2011, 10:25:24 UTC
[ Esmeralda rushes to aid him in holding the hose, but shies away at Toothless' menacing look. There's unease in her chest, and it doesn't help the adrenaline, nor the difficulty she's had breathing. The fire sputters and still bites, attempting to swallow up more and more of what's left of the room. A few more minutes of water, and the blaze is no longer as frightening as it had been. White smoke signals it's surrender. ]
it's probably bc I'm failing so bad ;w;giantskykittenJuly 21 2011, 16:33:56 UTC
[Toothless is soaked by this time, but wet dragon skin seems to smother fire even better than dry dragon skin. That, and that only, seems to appease the water-hating night fury.
He'll continue to roll around, press is body up against the flames, until the three of them can get it to a smolder.]

Luckily, Night Furies are rather fireproof.]
