[Initially his attention was caught by the bright light of the lamp, but the young man's raggedy appearance and indirect direction made Cogsworth realize that he was a new student. He'd have noticed someone who looked like this earlier..]

Excuse me, young man, do you need some help?

[While initially puzzled at where this voice was coming from, he soon enough looks down, notices the talking clock, and kneels down a bit to get closer]

Hm? ..Ah, yes, me.. I suppose I should introduce myself! I am Cogsworth, I teach English at the Academy.
