002 - [Action] - In Which Staff Members Drink Their Woes Away (And Students Try to Sneak In)

Feb 09, 2011 20:39

[It's quiet after dinner time.  Silver is shoving the last of the pots away, save for the large one that he keeps stew simmering in for any late-night prowlers.  He wipes the sweat from his brow with a dirty rag.  Long day.  He was used to cooking for a ship's crew, not a bunch of kids.  The staff were polite enough, but the little ones... well, ( Read more... )

[For the approaching of this ridiculous holiday she'd been hearing of, Elizabeth had been doing a bit of research. What does one give as a gift for such an occasion? She'd read a bit about edible things, but before one can research a proper recipe, one must know their resources.

So, she'd made her way to the cafeteria with the intention of exploring the stores of food within the kitchens. However, expecting both areas to be abandoned, she is surprised to find someone sitting there, alone.

Someone she'd only seen on the feed of the comm device and not yet met.]

Begpardon but-- [Oh my, did she spot a bit of rum?] Quite the spirit you have there, Mister--? I don't recall we've met.

[Silver looked up to find a very pretty woman in his presence. Well, wasn't this a nice surprise?]

Well, good evenin', Miss. John Silver, head chef an' all that.

[He looks at his glass]

Just a bit o' somethin' ta relax with is all, Miss.

A pleasure, Mister Silver. Elizabeth Swann, instructor of Seamanship.

I take it you're a sailor as well? [Sailor, pirate. All definitional. Pirates sail, therefore... easily combine-able titles. She assumes he is most likely a pirate like herself in part due to his dress but mostly due to his choice in beverage.]

A fine choice. One I've taken a preference to myself. [She grins.]

A lady, instructin' seamanship? Must be quite a talented lass ta be doin' that.

[He starts pouring a glass for her]

Aye, I'm a sailor. Prefer th' sky to th' sea, but it's all th' same.

[Silver hands her a glass]

I see ya not be the most proper lady ta be drinkin' like this, though.

I've not taken to the sky. It's the water that calls to me more than anything else. Granted, I'd not known one could even sail the sky until I'd met Mister Hawkins. He'd built a craft some time ago that was most extraordinary!

Ah, no. I'm certainly not anymore. [A bit of a rueful grin as she takes the glass from him.] Thank you.
