[Lilo was unresponsive to the noise around her. The only way she could cope was to stay absolutely still and quiet, clinging to the bandanna that Jack had given her and the photoalbum she had brought with her.
She wasn't crying... but she wasn't talking either.
There were only a few people she wanted... absolutely wanted and needed to be with right now, and they weren't here with her.
