[She heard the sound of someone using the punching bag.
Helga wondered if the mouse had bought a new one after the one that she'd almost destroyed.
She let herself into the gym and watched the young woman with the bag. She had potential. Maybe not as a boxer, not like her sister, but for pure combat... The lieutenant knew enough about movement and agility to know what she was watching.
Without a word, she shrugged off her jacket, removed her holster, and took off her black sweatshirt. She walked up behind the punching bag and held it steady to let Audrey be able to hit it harder without worrying about the swing.]
[She shifted a bit, changing her hold on the bag. Usually, she wasn't the one holding a bag. She was usually the one trying to kill it, but she'd learned how to hold it.]
[Wham. A solid right hook to the bag and she hopped back. Nena' showed her footwork along with how to knock a guy around. And Audrey's natural 'bouncyness' helped a lot in that. But she kept her eye on the bag.]
I won't make nearly enough money on this teacher's salary to send back to Papi at Christmas if I don't.
[She thought it was a good excuse for her wanting to go.]
This job is definitely a pay cut to what we're used to.
[A good hit, she had to say. A damn good hit.]
Good to hear you're taking care of Manuel. How's he doing?
[Of course, she wondered if there wasn't a bit of that wanderlust tugging at Ramirez. If she wasn't starting to feel a bit cooped up. But, then again, she knew it was wholly possible that the rest of her crew-- former crew-- didn't share that trait with her.]
[This time, she crouched back a bit, not really in an attack position, and her palm remained flat, faced toward Audrey.]
Harder.
[After all, she knew she could take it. Hard as she was sure the girl could hit, she had nothing on eighteen and nineteen year old boys with a vendetta.]
[Fine. Fine. Audrey didn't imagine anything in place of Helga's palm that could possibly encourage her to hit harder.
She grunted with the hit, putting enough force behind it to encourage the rest of her person to roll with it, even enough to cause her to step forward. It wasn't the form Nena had taught her. To keep her arms close to her face and her leg's a shoulder width apart no matter what but. Audrey wasn't a boxer, and Nena wasn't here right now.]
[She sounded rather unsure of herself. Like she wanted to retract her statement and go for column B instead.
It was a little too late to toss up her hands and say 'thanks but i prefer punching bags'.
Audrey peeled the gloves off her hands and tossed them to the ground before sighing. And aiming her hand; flat, and thumb tucked at Helga's throat like she suggested.]

She didn't speak but kept hitting the bag, trying to make it rock harder in Helga's grasp.]
Are you going?

Papi's good. As 'unretired' as ever. [A little smirk there. Manuel's definition of retirement was managing the shop and only the shop.]

Forget this.
[She stepped away from the bag, to Audrey's side.]
Face me. Aim right here--
[A tap to her gloved palm before she extended her hand.]
I want to see what you've got. Not much of a boxer, but I know a thing or two about fighting.

[Okay that really caught her off guard. Audrey looked from the bag to Helga's palm before shrugging slightly.]
Alright.
[She smacks the thick glove against Helga's palm. It's not the hardest hit she could land but it's quick and has enough force in it.]

You can hit. That's good.
Let's see how you think.
[Combat lesson? Helga?
No, never.]
Let's say you want to take a shot at me, and we'll say you know what I can do. So, your first hit has to be as effective as possible.
Where do you aim?

Your neck, throat...area?
[She's imagining how that would even work and all she can see is her wrist getting broken for her troubles. Hmm.]

[Which isn't "right."]
Try it.

She smirked, a look of almost-feline amusement.]
Good try.
Now, what did you do wrong?
[She hadn't let go of Audrey's wrist either, neither increasing or decreasing pressure.]

[Audrey tried wiggling her hand out of Helga's grip but, no give.]
