Important announcements + poll
Sorry about all the administrative posts recently, but I have several important announcements to make. First, lil_hippie_chic has offered to be a co-mod for disney100! I'm excited, and we've already begun reworking the tags and memories.
Second, post-tagging by members has begun (yay!) and from now on, whenever someone makes a new claim on the claim post, I'll reply with what tags they should use for their claim.
Third, we're going to make a banner post separate from the all-purpose claims post. lil_hippie_chic will be in charge of a new post where you can comment after you finish a claim to get a banner. This will hopefully make it easier for bannermakers to see who still needs banners, and for icon makers to pick up their banners. (The other post is a bit cluttered.)
Finally, I've had a few ideas for new types of 100-icon claims for disney100 that I've been mulling over, and I'd like to propose them here:
Proposal #1: Alternate theme set
Currently, when you make a claim for disney100, you're given a set of 50 themes that make up half the icons. My idea is to introduce an alternate set of 50 themes, which you can use if you've completed at least one claim using the normal set.
So instead of the normal Magic, Family, Rainbow, Dreams, Nightmare, etc., you'd use a different set with themes like Leader, Quote, Space, Dancing, Box. This would be especially for people who have completed multiple claims (you know who you are!) and are looking for another challenge. In order to do this alternate theme claim, though, you'd need to have successfully done a normal 100-icon claim in the past.
Proposal #2: Buddy 50/50
The other type of claim I'd like to introduce is one where you team up with a partner and each of you does 50 icons of the same subject, for a total of 100 at the end. You'd be given a little less time (I'm thinking 2 months? 1 month?) since you only have to make half the icons. (But it would require more coordination, so that might take up some time by itself.)
The 50 icons would consist of:
- 15 themes that are the same for both makers
- 10 complementary themes (e.g. one person gets Hot, the other gets Cold)
- 10 made from pictures user 1 has chosen
- 10 made from pictures user 2 has chosen
- 5 artist's choice (up to each individual maker)
Whereas the alternate theme set idea above is more challenging than a regular claim, the 50/50 would actually be easier than a regular claim. It's for those people who don't think they can make a whole 100 icons by themselves, or for people who are more motivated when they know someone else is waiting on them. And if we do the buddy 50/50 idea, I'd have a post where people can post comments asking, for example, if anybody would be interested in doing a Disney villains 50/50 with them. So, opportunity to make friends! Or you know, acquaintances, at least?
So, poll time: would you be interested in these? Would they be too drastic of a change? Let me know what you think.
