FILL:The difference between cats and dogs Part 1/3changouJuly 6 2013, 21:01:29 UTC
Dodger had always been a dog that could rely on his instincts to guide him. Like when he had decided to crash early and walked in on Einstein and Rita mating he had immediately and without hesitation turned right around and fled. It wasn't that he was shy about mating au contraire he had mated and seen other mating enough that, unless a good looking pooch was getting mounted ,he wouldn't even stop to look and had no problem carrying on a discussion when he or his friends were mounting another dog. He had been fairly surprised when Roscoe and DeSoto had shown up and THANKED him for getting rid of Sykes though they refuse to explain. He kinda wishes that he had taken their thanks at face value and not followed them because the image of Roscoe mounting DeSoto and rutting into him at a brutal pace had plagued him for a long long time.
All in all Dodger never had something that made him freeze up for any reason. Well until now that is.
After getting home Rita told him that Oliver had been in the area looking for him to hang out and had left a few minutes ago so he had decided to go look for him to see if he could find him before he got back to Jenny's. Dodger started walking down the alley that he knew Oliver went down most frequently and had barely gotten a few steps in before he had frozen looking at the sight that was now in front of nose.
Two cats were mating. Two cats that where very far apart in age and one was Oliver. Usually he would turn away because he knew the kid would be embarrassed to be seen being mounted but instead he saw red.'Oliver is mine' The thought and the force of rage startled him before he finally understood. He was in love with Oliver. It struck him odd that he hadn't noticed especially since after meeting Oliver he hadn't mated with anyone and when Oliver wanted to go back to Jenny after he had "rescued him" he had been angry and jealous. Even as everything started coming together piece by piece he was still painfully aware of what was going on in front of him and had to force himself to suppress a growl. Even if he had realized his feelings for Oliver it didn't give him the right to scare the older cat rutting into him away. Forcing himself to turn around Dodger tried moving quietly away only to stop as he heard pained whimpers from Oliver inter sped with the word stop and no. Dodger froze and turned around to see Oliver clawing at the ground sobbing. His brain short circuited. Oliver was being hurt.Oliver didn't want to be mounted by that stupid alley cat.
"Hey cat get the hell off of my Oliver" Dodger growled advancing on the pair and barring his teeth.
Releasing the hold he had on Oliver's neck the tomcat looked up and noticing the snarling dog pulled out of Oliver quickly causing the younger cat to yowl in pain and collapse. Seeing that Oliver was in a lot of pain Dodger ran over to him to make sure he was alright. The tomcat took the chance to hightail it outta there.
Dodger nosed at Oliver and curled up around him. "Hey kiddo. You alright?" he said softly
"Dodger it hurts. It hurts so much. And he ignored me when I told him I didn't want him to mount me." Oliver stuttered and sobbed into Dodgers fur making him wish that he had killed the stinkin cat. He started grooming his lovely Oliver to try to get him to stop crying.
"Listen kid I'm here for you k? Now that I'm getting a good wiff of ya I think I should warn ya that the reason that cat did that is cause you're in heat. Not that it's your fault or nothin but until it's over you should come stay with me and the gang. Okay kiddo?"
Instead of calming down at Oliver started crying harder "Dodger I can't stay with you. Not when I'm in heat"
Dodger was taken by surprise at the answer and had no clue why Oliver didn't want to stay with him. Looking down to question Oliver he noticed the cat had fallen asleep. He took the time to study the object of his affections. It had been 2 years since the fight with Sykes and Oliver had grown almost as tall as Dodger when Tito had asked him how he got so big e had told them that Jenny said that he was part of breed of cats that could grow as large as Einstein. He remembered the first time he had seen the kid and their hot dog escapade.

He had seriously been impressed that the cat had the balls to argue with him, a dog, and to follow him back to his home. Shaking himself out of the memories he got up and lifted Oliver up by his neck and proceeded to bring him back to his home. When Oliver woke up he could explain why he didn't trust Dodger to take care of him and if he couldn't convince him to stay he would go with Oliver to protect him from other cats.
