Where Or When Is Carmen Sandiego? 2/? anonymous November 6 2011, 04:44:54 UTC
Corona, 1745

“Who is Max looking for this time?” Rapunzel asked.

“According to the Guard, Carmen Sandiego,” Eugene said.

“Has she been a thief long?” Rapunzel asked.

“You think I know her somehow?”

“Uh…”

“I’m aware of her, but I’ve never met her. I know she once attacked one of the Stabbington Brothers. The one with the eyepatch. It’s kind of how he got the eyepatch.”

“Really?”

“You know how there’s the saying ‘No honor amongst thieves’?”

“Sure?”

“Well, she proves that saying wrong. She has it. Lots of it. She’s not into stealing for her own gain, like say, I was or the Stab Bros were.”

“Has she stolen anything from Corona?” Rapunzel asked.

Eugene shrugged.

“You’d have to ask Max about that. But given that he looks like he’s out for her blood, it’s highly likely.”

A week later, the Queen of Corona looked at her daughter and her daughter’s fiancé, and said, “A horse is sad because he could not find a thief?”

“Max is very determined,” Eugene said.

“Tell him I’m glad that he found the items that Sandiego stole. Give him some apples. Tell him we’re closing the case. Maybe she moved on to the next Kingdom. And if so, that’ll be their problem.”

Santa Fe, New Mexico Territory, USA, 1851

Somebody stole from the bank in Sante Fe, and based on the bank workers’ description, it was a fair-skinned to tan-skinned woman in a red long-coat and a wide-brim red hat (but not a cowboy hat), who clearly was working alone and had both her eyes.

“It’s not One-Eyed Betty?” Jessie asked, standing in front of the Sheriff’s desk, her arms crossed and standing in a wide-stance.

“Nope. Both eyes intact. Long reddish black hair. Apparently her name is Carmen Sandiego,” Woody said.

Jessie scoffed. “She gave her name?” Jessie asked incredulously. “What cojones! She put the "miss" in misdemeanor.”

“According to the bank workers, she gave her name generously. And when she was done stealing, she swaggered out of the place.”

Jessie made a sound that he couldn’t figure out the meaning of. Like, she was impressed or she was annoyed.

“Is she from down south, Mexico? Or is she from California?”

“No idea. And I don’t care. She could come from the Moon and I’d still want to catch her.”

“She dangerous? A gun?”

“You never know with bandits, but apparently, she didn’t point one during the situation,” Woody said.

“A different type of bandit, you think?” Jessie said. Jessie paused and then said, “I find I am annoyed by the guts and nerve she has. Let’s find this bitch.”

“I was just going to ask if you wanted to help find her, but that answered my question. Get the horses ready,” Woody said. “As far as I’m concerned, she’s wanted in jail in New Mexico Territory.”

Metroville, 1975

Edna Mode sat at her couch, arms crossed, looking angry. She would pout but Enda Mode did not pout. She had tantrums. The people on her security team were fools and incompetent. Worse than Supers who wore capes. The fact that she found out from her security tapes that Carmen Sandiego got into her building and stole her design sketches (and at least one easel) was inconceivable. She was displeased.

“Do you want us to find them?” her lead security guy asked.

“NO. GET OUT OF MY SIGHT. Go watch the electric fence!” she shouted.

And he did as quickly as he could, tripping over his own feet like the incompetent fools they were.

She then grabbed her phone and called a number:

“Mr. Incredible? E here. Find Carmen Sandiego. And my designs. But I’d rather you find my designs.”

“Got it,” Bob Parr said.

The Incredibles found Edna Mode’s design sketches and an easel, but did not find Carmen Sandiego. The family did decide to keep looking for her, because Carmen Sandiego could come back to Metroville and steal again. Plus, searching for this elusive person was part of what they did.

Tri-County Area, USA, 2000

“Look, I think that the person that stole the Woody’s Round-Up dolls is Carmen Sandiego! She stole them from this airport. I don’t know or care how: She's a sticky-fingered filcher from Berlin down to Belize! She does this sort of thing! Just find her!” Al McWhiggin yelled at the Tri-Country Airport security on the phone. “What do you mean outside the airport is not your jurisdiction? So I have to find her myself? Fine. Goodbye.” He hung the phone and mumbled, “Jerks.”

Kauai, Hawaii, USA, 2005

Cobra Bubbles having worked with the CIA knew about Carmen Sandiego. Mostly because she came up a lot. She stole from possibly every country in the entire world at least once by the year 2005, A.D. And, this had been going on for decades, and sometimes, he wondered, if, this had been happening for centuries. And apparently, according to the Grand Councilwoman of the United Galactic Federation, they had had an Earthling human female in a red trench coat and a red sun hat steal from a few of their planets. And got away each time.

It was bad enough that he had a sneaking suspicion she could time travel, but now she was going off the planet to steal.

And according to Grand Councilwoman, she was coming back to Earth, and in specific, Kauai. And she wanted Experiment 626, Stitch, involved. Oh, yes, that would be quite helpful, he felt semi-sarcastically.

They did agree to help.

“I hope she doesn’t try to take the Blue Hawaii bench that Elvis sat on,” Lilo said. “That’s priceless!”

“Doubtful,” Cobra said.

“Why?” Lilo said. “He’s important!”

“Carmen Sandiego said she was coming to Kauai, according to the Grand Councilwoman of the U.G.F. Her clue consists of ‘Two years after the Declaration of Independence, he landed at Waimea Bay, and thought it appropriate to name the Hawaiian Islands the Sandwich Islands.’”

“That’s James Cook,” Nani said.

Cobra looked at her, as did everyone else.

“Hey, I paid attention in Hawaiian History. It happened in 1778.”

“Okay, then she must be referring to the Cook Landing Site. She might go there,” Cobra said. “Stitch, and uh, Lilo, if she feels she needs to, let’s go.”

“Are you sure?” Nani asked.

“I wanna help find her!” Lilo exclaimed. “We can’t let her win!”

“Cannot be arguing with that,” Jumba said.

“Be careful!” Nani exclaimed.

And they were. Lilo, Stitch, and Cobra spent four hours at the landing site, basically guarding it, and she wasn’t there. At all.

A few days later, Cobra got word from the C.I.A. that she had actually gone off-planet. And that was all they knew. She was not on Earth.

Middleton, USA, 2007

“Are you sure she isn’t working with Shego or Camille Léon, Wade?” Kim Possible asked.

“Yes. She’s working alone or with her own organization,” Wade said. “And Shego’s bank records don’t show any payments from V.I.L.E.”

“Tell me, where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?” Kim asked. “I know that she was in Mali, and she got away from me there.”

“Mali’s in Africa, right?” Ron asked. “Then where’s Bali?”

“Indonesia,” Kim and Wade said.

“You don’t think she’s there?” Kim said. “Wade, show me the clue she left!”

Wade pulled it up: “The island home of a now-extinct tiger not far from the island of Java, less than 4 million people call me home, most of whom are Hindu, I am likely to be seen at a rock Temple from the fifteenth century,” Kim read.

There was a pause.

“How far is Bali from Java?” Kim asked.

“Two miles,” Wade said.

“Does Bali fit all the information she gave?”

“Yes,” Wade said.

“Then it’s Bali. Let’s go!”

“All right!” Ron exclaimed. “Mali, to Bali. Ohio! Oahu!”

Carmen Sandiego was at Tanah Lot when Team Possible arrived. And got away but did not steal anything from the temple. Rather, Kim was involved in hand-to-hand combat with Carmen. Kim expected her to insult her, like Shego, but Carmen did not do that.

“You’re quite the challenger, young lady. Thank you,” Carmen even said. “Look for me all you want. I welcome it.”

And then Carmen managed to get out of the temple without harming it and going away via helicopter.

Kim continued to look for Carmen Sandiego, but was unable to find her. Shego found this quite amusing, despite not being affiliated with Carmen.

“Go to bed, Buzz,” Jessie whispered in Buzz’s ear.

Buzz Lightyear sat in front of his laptop computer, eyes droopy, looking annoyed at the image of a woman in a red trench coat. He had been at the computer since at least a few hours before Jessie went to bed about two hours ago. He turned to look at Jessie and then looked at the computer, looking frustrated.

“This- woman, Carmen Sandiego, she’s hit three of Capital Planet’s biggest museums and stolen something valuable, and then left a clue to her next target. She’s kinda left a clue for the next one,” Buzz explained. He rubbed his eyes. “I think she is going to go to another planet, possibly Tangea or even one of the planets in the same solar system as Earth, her original stomping ground. If I can figure it out, maybe I can find her and stop her and finally put an end to this galaxy-wide stealing spree.”

“Yes, but you need your rest to do that,” Jessie said. She kissed his cheek. “You’re tired, go to bed.”

“She's a double-dealing diva with a taste for thievery,” Buzz whispered as he typed.

“Did you just rhyme, Buzz?” Jessie asked. “You only rhyme when you’re really tired. Okay, turn the computer off. You can deal with this tomorrow. With your team and with Nebula and the others. Go to bed, Lightyear.”

“You’re not leaving without me, are you?” Buzz asked.

“Nope,” Jessie said. She smiled at him. “Our bed is a nice place, Buzz: come join me.” She winked at him.

He sighed. “Okay,” Buzz said. “You know best.”

She watched as he shut the computer down, and when that was done, she took him by the hand, and traveled to their marital bed.

“I’m going to be right here, so I don’t want you leavin’, and I don’t want to hear you talkin’ in your sleep about Carmen Sandiego. I want you dreamin’ about me,” Jessie said as she cuddled close to Buzz.

“I can do that,” Buzz whispered, and slowly fell asleep for the night, Jessie holding onto him.

Later, Team Lightyear and Star Command figured out that Carmen Sandiego meant to go to Luna: Earth’s Moon and take the flag left there several hundred years prior by two astronauts, one whom shared Buzz’s name. They managed to stop her from reaching her target and the flag was kept where it belonged. And, not surprisingly, but to Buzz’s chagrin, she got away after a space fight with 42, and made it so they were unable to find her once they got her away from the moon, she traveled away, seemingly going towards Earth, but, she put her cloaking device on the ship making it impossible for them to see where she was. So, Carmen Sandiego escaped Buzz Lightyear this time.

“At least you kept the flag on Luna. Sandiego didn’t take that. That beautiful symbol of the Earthling-Americans having the potential to go into the cosmos,” Jessie said, comfortingly, sitting next to him, rubbing his back.

“Yes, that’s true,” Buzz said. “I still want to find her, though.”

Oh man, would you ever write more spinoffs? I really want to see more Disney characters get involved in this case!

I appreciate that! Thank you. :) And honestly, I'm not sure.

I originally had more fandoms involved, like The Great Mouse Detective and Treasure Planet, in particular, but as I've seen them both too few times to do very well, I nixed. But, if others want to try, I'd certainly love to see.
