Dispelling Shadows Pt 5 3/3 anonymous August 2 2011, 13:02:38 UTC
No response. The cowgirl’s eyes remained shut tightly and her body limp and rigid, even as Dolly began sewing her arm carefully back to her shoulder. Woody pursed his lips, knowing he faced a difficult challenge. He turned to Buzz - make that two challenges - and gave him an insistent glance, trying to get him to provide his help. He knew the ranger had a stronger connection and influence over Jessie; he had a better chance of getting her to come around. Buzz felt hesitant, having already tried reaching out to the cowgirl with no success. Yet, continuing to see her so vulnerable only enhanced his desire to rid her of her fears, just as he had whenever she began to hyperventilate in the darkness of Andy’s toy box years ago. He loathed see her like that.

Sighing, the ranger silently leaned forward until he placed the back of his fingers on her cheek, stroking her skin softly.

“J-Jessie…” The rasping of his voice surprised him slightly. “It’s gonna be…you won’t ever have to…there’s nothing to…”

Buzz couldn’t find the right words. Everything he tried to say had no meaning, no weight. Things would not be ‘all right’ or ‘okay’ for a long while, especially not for Jessie. Secrets and lies would reign while the truth would lie enchained in the horrid dungeons of her memories, its eventual liberation almost nonexistent. Certainty had already thrown itself out the window and reassurance ready to follow. Things seemed so wretched and difficult; the ranger honestly did not know how to begin helping his cowgirl. He felt so lost.

Dolly suddenly gasped lightly, drawing the attention of the two friends. She still had a bit more left to sew, but the deadened arm beside her began to shift, as if revived. Jessie stirred, groaning quietly as she rotated her head to the side and finally relaxed her eyebrows. Her body seemed to realize it had regained something it lost, able to feel and control the arm again as the fingers flexed under its will. The cowgirl thereafter tried to free herself from her imprisonment in her subconscious. Quickly enlightened, Buzz kept his fingers resting against her cheek as Woody leaned forward slightly with a small smile.

“Hey, Jess.” The cowboy spoke softly. “That’s it. You’re safe, no need to worry.”

She seemed to latch onto the words and turned toward the sheriff. She struggled with herself for a little bit longer until she finally managed to open her emerald orbs. When she caught sight of Woody, she did not smile, but her eyes conveyed relief, gladdened to see him watching over her. Soon enough, she shifted her gaze beside him to take in the other toy with her, the other toy touching her.

Shrieking, Jessie suddenly threw herself backward and up the pillow she lied on, taking the thread and needle still attached to her shoulder with her. She scrambled away as far as she could reach, crying out among her panicked breaths and her eyes wild with terror.

Dolly, Woody, and Buzz sat stunned, unsure about what had sent the cowgirl into such a frenzied state and afraid of its severity. The cowboy carefully crawled toward her, but she did not try to escape any further from his presence, her eyes and full attention fixated only on the space toy behind him. Buzz shook his head faintly, sorrow contorting his features once again. He held up a hand toward her.

“Jessie-”

“No! Stay away from me!” The cowgirl screeched, shrinking away from his outstretched hand and covering her face with trembling hands. “Stay away! Stay away! Stay away!”

Woody sat still, just watching her with disbelief. Never before had he seen her so hysterical, so insecure. He opened his mouth, but nothing sensible came out. At a loss of what to do, he turned around to face Buzz again…

…but the ranger had already disappeared.

Seconded!Anon.

I think this chapter is very good. It's upsetting and comforting. Comforting to know that she's back in Bonnie's room safe, her arm is nearly fixed, that Woody is there. Upsetting because of the well, what's happening. But knowing that Woody is there, is oddly comforting, because where Buzz probably will have difficulty in reaching out to her, Woody can pick up the slack.

Thank you! Yeah, Woody's definitely going to have to do some major damage control between Buzz and Jessie. He's really good at that for some reason. :) Glad you enjoyed it and the next parts will be up soon!

OP HERE

This is amazing! When Jessie got scared of Buzz, I felt so bad, but so good because that's how I pictured her reaction! Maybe not using the exact words when she started screaming, but she tried to get away which is exactly how I believe she would react after that.

I'm glad that she is getting her arms fixed and that she's at home safe and sound. :)

Now she just needs to get use to Buzz again and get alot of love and support.

I still wonder what became of Henry's Buzz. Thank God he won't be around Sunnyside anymore, I hope.

Update soon! I'll be waiting!

Thanks! I figured such a reaction would seem appropriate because it's right after the attack and she's still on edge about everything. Seeing Buzz would make her see Henry's Buzz instantly cause that's all she's picturing at the moment. I'm glad you liked it. :)

Yeah, time to right the wrongs I did to Jessie and begin helpng her ot. Woody will definitely help, dealing with damage control between her and Buzz.

I'll update very soon, so sit tight! :D Thanks again!
