Sorry for the wait again. Went on vacation to Disney World! (squeee!) I got totally motivated to continue this right after I got back home. We're getting to the climax soon, so sit tight. This one's kinda long and maybe boring, but it's important and sets everything up. Hope you enjoy! :D
When some of her classmates commented on her Buzz and Jessie toys after recess, Bonnie felt encouraged to bring the two back to impress her peers once again. With only a week left of daycare for the year, the little girl decided to bring them in on one of the most special days of the year, the summer picnic. Instead of playing inside, having snack, going out for recess, and playing until dismissal, all of the kids went outside with their teachers for the whole day, playing games and eating lunch on blankets. She didn’t tell anyone of her plan to bring her toys. She wanted it to be a surprise.
Thus, Jessie and Buzz once again found themselves inside her backpack. They felt strangely at peace though, no immediate worries or anxiousness riddling either of them. Merely sitting close together, they talked casually about things, nothing in particular about Sunnyside or its residents. It wasn’t until they actually arrived at the daycare did they begin to think about it. When they heard the zipper of the backpack begin to open, they quickly fell inanimate and met the gaze of Bonnie and her mother.
“Bonnie, you brought your toys?” Mrs. Anderson questioned.
“Yep!” Bonnie chirped. “I wanna show everyone Buzz and Jessie again! They liked them so much!”
“Honey, I don’t think that’s a good idea for today.” Her mother advised.
“Why not?” The little girl gave a wide-eyed, confused look.
“Everyone’s going to be outside today, Bon.” Mrs. Anderson began, brushing a hand against her daughter’s hair. “That includes the toddlers. You know how they handle toys. If you bring Jessie and Buzz outside, they might get a hold of them and break them. Your classmates might take them too, if they like them so much. I think it’s better if you leave them in your backpack, hon. I don’t want them to get taken or damaged by accident.”
Bonnie pursed her lips with disappointment, but looking into her backpack again at the two toys, her young mind seemed to understand her mother’s reasoning. She smiled a little before she glanced up again.
“Okay, mommy.” She agreed contently. “I’ll keep them inside where they’re safe.”
“All right.” Her mother concluded. “Just want to make sure you don’t lose them.”
Bonnie beamed before zipping her bag closed once again. Soon enough, Buzz and Jessie could hear the commotion of little, excited children in the Butterfly Room. Left to hang on a hook, the two toys idly listened to the amateur conversations until a teacher instructed them all outside. Soon enough the noise died down to the muffled yells of children outside.
Opening the zipper, Buzz and Jessie checked the room and deemed the area safe enough to come out. They barely made it to the floor before cheers erupted around them. The Butterfly Room residents came out of their places to greet them, seeming to recognize their forms and celebrating their return. Buzz glanced at Jessie before smiling abashedly, the cowgirl following suit with a little wave of her own.
“You guys are back! Welcome!”
Barbie and Ken appeared from the crowd atop a familiar looking dump truck, yet it had since been decorated with bright colors and designed with a 70’s flair. The Mattel toys jumped down quickly to greet their friends once again.
“I’m assuming Bonnie brought you for the picnic, huh?” Ken guessed.
“Yeah, but her mom thought it best for us to stay inside.” Jessie answered with a shrug.
“Wonderful! You can join us in our end-of-the-year celebration!” Barbie smiled, popping her leg. “Since the kids will be outside until dismissal, we have all day to party! Let’s get started!”

The crowd of toys cheered and set off for the center of the room, where a dance floor began to form around a radio. Yet, even though Barbie walked toward the gathering, her partner did not. Ken glanced anxiously around the room until enough toys had left the immediate area near the kids’ cubbies. Before Buzz and Jessie decided to join the party, he made his way to them, nervously asking for a moment of their time.
“I, uh, know this should’ve been done a lot sooner, but we haven’t seen you all year and we barely had time the last time we met. We wanted to do this in person too…‘cause I think that’s the best way and…well…”
Looking up from the floor, the two toys gave him confused glances albeit concerned ones. Ken stopped to take a deep breath and turned his full attention onto Buzz.
“Can we speak to you alone for a moment?”
“We?” The ranger asked, even more bewildered and confused.
Ken hesitated before glancing behind him. Standing in a small group and hiding partially behind a chair were the Butterfly toys that had forced Buzz into demo mode. Upon seeing them all together, Buzz’s expression darkened, his confusion replaced with uncertainty and repulsion.
“What exactly do you want?” He questioned defensively.
“We-we just want to apologize. That’s all.” Ken nearly seemed panicked, realizing he was stepping on sensitive grounds.
“Alone?” Jessie emphasized, her demeanor showing neither approval nor ease about the request.
“We’re not like that anymore, I promise.” The Mattel toy reasoned. “We want to make up for our mistakes, for the horrible things we did.” He turned to Buzz again. “We’re not even asking you to accept our apology. We just…want to do what we feel is right.”
Buzz studied the doll for a moment before sighing heavily. Turning his gaze onto the cowgirl beside him, he caught her warning glance and the feigned nervousness on her features. She didn’t want him to go and neither did he, but what was the right choice?
“All right.” The ranger finally accepted. “But we stay within sight of the other toys. Clear?”
“Absolutely!” Ken agreed vigorously. “Anything you want.”
Buzz turned to Jessie once again before the doll led him to the small group of toys a few feet away. The uncertainty in her green eyes struck him quickly and he winced. He reached up and gently placed a hand on her cheek leaning in close so only she could hear him.
“I’ll be okay.” He reassured quietly. “I’ll be back in a few minutes, I promise.”
The cowgirl continued to speak silently, giving him a doubtful glance. Buzz merely smiled though and leaned in to place his lips chastely against hers. After pulling away, he lingered for only a moment before turning and finally following Ken across the room.
Jessie watched the ranger’s retreating form tensely, pursing her lips. Everything had been fine before Ken brought up the memories of Buzz’s demo mode. She had actually looked forward to returning to Sunnyside for once, encouraged previously by its changes and present peace. Yet, the images of their first night at the daycare began to plague her again and the brightness of her demeanor darkened with discomfort.
She glanced at the party of toys in the center of the Butterfly Room, eagerly enjoying themselves as they celebrated a year that turned out for the better in the end. The cowgirl felt no desire to join them, deciding merely to watch distantly on the sidelines.
A creak caught her attention. Turning toward the noise, Jessie’s eyes landed upon the door that led to the joint bathroom between the Butterfly Room and the Caterpillar Room, opened barely a crack so toys could pass through. Curiosity suddenly got the best of her as she tread carefully toward the opening. Glancing through, she didn’t see any toys, the area completely vacant.
Something suddenly impelled the cowgirl to enter the bathroom, to leave the safety of the Butterfly Room and once again travel the path that once led to her imprisonment at the daycare. She scanned the area around her and glimpsed at the crowd of toys again, making sure no one noticed her leaving. Swiftly, she passed through the door.

Jessie walked steadily along the tiled flooring, avoiding puddles accordingly. Déjà vu consumed her as she took in her surroundings, almost hearing the steps of her friends alongside her and the New Orleans drawled voice she hated so much ahead. Shaking her head slightly, she continued until another slightly cracked door met her at the end of her trek. The light from the next room halted her in her tracks. Her stomach stirring, her phantom heart racing, Jessie hesitated for a long moment. She could not resist the temptation of familiarity, though, and soon found herself pushing past the door.
The Caterpillar Room. The cowgirl never believed and had always hoped she would never return to such a horrid place. Yet, the sunlight made the room shimmer with soft and relaxing oranges and yellows, just as it had the day she first entered. For a moment, her phantom heart swelled with relief and felt impelled to step deeper into the room. The resident toys had left earlier that morning to join the Butterfly Room festivities, leaving the place quite calm and quiet. Jessie could only hear her own boots meeting the tiled floor as she walked about, recognizing landmarks and admiring art projects.
She stiffened once she faced the windows.
The prison cells. Those damned toy bins that doubled as prison cells her first night at Sunnyside. The cowgirl stared at them, the two that had held her drawing her attention like magnets. The memories didn’t wait too long to perform before her in a ghostly play, reenacting the scenes of that night. Lotso tossing Woody’s hat to her, her near escape, Buzz’s harsh disbeliefs and insults. The images plagued her, but she couldn’t force them away, even as the space ranger’s once cold, spiteful expressions haunted her senses. She shook her head, stifling a sob. She never wanted to see him as such ever again, never again.
‘Silence minions of Zurg!’
‘I’m immune to your bewitching good looks!’
‘Spare me your lies, temptress!’
“Are you troubled, Jessie?”
The cowgirl jumped, the images vanishing immediately. Blinking confusedly, she stared at the toy bins once again, now empty and silent. Breathing heavily for a moment, Jessie tried hard to recompose herself as she rubbed her tired face with a hand. Movement to her left suddenly caught her attention and she sharply turned her head, her fears still highly instilled within her.
Approaching her in all his new-age glory was Henry’s Buzz Lightyear. He eyed her calmly, a content, gentle smile forming his lips. Jessie watched him warily, slightly uncomfortable about his presence and backed away when settled himself a little too close to her for her liking.
“What’re you doing here?” The cowgirl asked, eyes narrowing.
“I could ask you the same.” Henry’s Buzz responded as his grin widened a bit more.
“I have my reasons, none of which you’d understand.”
“And the other Buzz does, I assume.” The newer ranger guessed. “Yet, he’s not here to comfort you. Please, why don’t you let me?”
Jessie scowled, realizing he had probably seen her entire remembrance episode and a bit offended by the subtle insult to her Buzz. She huffed and crossed her arms angrily.
“No thanks. I need to take care of this myself.” She informed defensively. “Besides, Buzz has always been there when I need him, more so than anyone else. Don’t go underestimating him.”
The cowgirl saw his grin falter and his eyes harden. She knew what he wanted, but she wouldn’t give it to him. Like hell she would. She could never abandon her Buzz, could never stop loving him. She wasn’t going to start now.

“If you’ll excuse me, I’m going back to the party.” With that, Jessie turned on her heel and headed toward the bathroom door.
“Go? But you just got here!”
Jessie froze. Those words, she heard them before, just before she realized her and her family had been deceived. That New Orleans drawl, that accursed voice that had haunted her for nights after escaping Sunnyside. Now, she heard it in Buzz’s voice, implying the same meaning as before. No, she wouldn’t listen. She wasn’t going back to that nightmare.
The cowgirl began to run for the door, her anxiety fueling her energy. She barely made it past a table before a hand latched onto her wrist, forcing her to a complete stop.
“No! Let go!”
Struggling, Jessie tried to pull away from her assailant, but his grip held her firmly, almost effortlessly. Her mind growing frantic, panicked, the cowgirl began to thrash about, feeling the newer Buzz’s hold loosening. Growling, she finally turned to face him, fist clenched and ready.
“I said let me-”
She barely saw his face before seeing nothing but black.
----------------- Just to note, Henry's Buzz basically embodies and symbolizes the evil of Sunnyside, to show that it still lingers despite the changes made. Since it's been there for so long, it wouldn't just disappear after Lotso leaves. It'll keep plaguing those it affected. (deep right?)

Seconded!Anon. I really can't wait to see what happens next (though I've got a good idea...). I remember reading chapter 1 and I think I actually felt anxious because of Henry!Buzz. And I really love how you have shown just how Jessie probably will have reacted post-Toy Story 3 to what happened at Sunnyside, you really show how traumatic it was for them.

OP HERE! Thank you for continuing! I was starting to wonder when you'll be back. I didn't find this boring I see this more as a buildup and to get us in Jessie's mind set. If that makes sense.
I can't wait to see more!
O! Before I forget I glanced at your prompt just below this one and saw your bonus point about Jessie getting her shoulder stitches cut. Why haven't I thought of that before? If you want to add that into this story I would love to see it being done. If you don't mind of course. :)

Thanks for the comments!
Yeah, I really thought it was important to put in what (I feel) Jessie's reactions to returning to the Caterpillar Room in particular. Especially since such memories are brought up with Henry's Buzz literally right there.
And, to the OP, I had actually started writing the next part (pt 3) a bit before I posted this part and already have her arms tied up. I went by your bonuses and set it up so I could cover them all. I'm also liking the way it's going so far so I really don't want to change it lest it doesn't turn out right. I hope that's okay with you! :/

OP HERE
That's fine with me! Whatever you come up with is good since you're the author, but now I have this kink for that shoulder cut. Lol! If you can work it into the story somehow like if Jessie gets her arms free or something then that's great! If not then don't worry it's all up to you.
So far I'm happy with everything you are writing. <333

I'll see what I can do cause I think an idea arose. ;)
Thanks for the compliment! Good to know too, heh. :) I'm always paranoid about it, but in the end it looks pretty good to me. Glad you're enjoying it!
I'm going to try very hard to update as soon as I can, I promise. I'm juggling personal life commitments and 2 other stories, but please don't think I'm not going to update. I promise I will. I wanna get this next part right too since it's "the big one" (laughs like Sid). ;) See ya soon!

OP HERE
You're welcome ooo and I'm happy an idea just popped into your head, lol. Remember if you can't fit it in for whatever reason then it's fine with me. How you write the story is up to you. I love the story so far. :)
I can understand if life gets in the way. It happens to everyone and you have to make sure that, that's taken care of first. Or at least some of it. Can't wait for the next part! <3
