“Heyy, I’M not the one who stole a headstart by tying ME to a fencepost!” He countered, but she could see he was still in good humor when they locked gazes.
A few moments of companionable silence passed as they caught their breath. Then-
“Uh… Buck?”
“Yep?”
“You can get off of me now. Heh.” She was staring him, twitching her ears inquisitively.
He paused.
“I dunno… you STILL haven’t hailed me as the World’s Greatest Speed Demon!”
“You didn’t mention that before - and why should I?” Grace retorted, teasingly.
“C’mon! Just say it! You know you want to~” Buck coaxed.
Grace seemed to consider something for a moment, looking away, and then something seemed to change as she glance back at him, her eyes half lidded.
“If I didn’t know better, I’d think you were using this name thing as an *excuse* to be this close to me.” Grace said in a tone much lower than her regular. Buck froze, victorious smirk fading.
“Say whuh-?!” He choked.
“You heard me,” Grace smirked, and then she pushed her smaller nose to his in an affectionate nuzzle.
Odd chills seized Buck and he acted on his first impulse - to recoil, large hooves kicking up dust.
Wow. What... had just happened?
Grace instantly popped up and spun around to face him.
“Hah! I was just kidding around, silly,” Her regular sugary voice had come back and it was punctured by chuckling amusement. “After tying you to that fence post, I’d think you be more on your guard around me~”
Buck was still struggling to find words. His snout was burning.
“What was - I - you-?”
“Tell you what - to make it up to you, I’ll race you back! How does that sound?” Grace piped up, unexpectedly. Taking his mute nod as an answer, the cow flicked her tail at him in a playful beckon, and shot out towards the lighted windows of the barn house.
Buck shook his mane and, not even trying to hide his smile this time, ran after her.
Maybe, Buck hadn’t lost his own patch of heaven after all.

Heh, it ends a little lamely, but I hope you liked? ;; It was certainly fun to write - Grace's patience against Buck's spazziness is so adorable!
If you'd still like to return fill for me, how do you feel about Pinocchio? 'Cause there's a prompt a few posts up that I'd love to see a fill for~

LiveJournal, please work for me!
Oh my goodness. OH. MY. GOODNESS.
Seeing this fill in my inbox made me so unbelievably happy! First, I was not expecting anyone to fill this so fast. Second, best present EVER just to know that I got someone to watch Home on the Range and they enjoyed it. ♥ So, thank you so, so much for that!
And third, THIS FIC. SO CUTE. Grace's calmness and her playfulness and her voice are just so perfect. Totally hearing everything she says in Jennifer Tilly's voice and it fits so perfectly!
Buck was so adorable and I love all his angry outbursts. Also this:
He wasn’t in the mood for her bubbly gabble; couldn’t she see that he was brooding?
... made me laugh out loud. It's so perfectly Buck, I love it. I really loved how you explored their relationship -- it feels very perfect for how the two interact in the film. Like you said, the whole dynamic of Grace's patience and Buck's spazziness is just adorable! The ending is so sweet, the nuzzle/kiss and Buck being all caught off-guard and the patch of heaven bit. Awwww this is wonderful. *happycry*

eee HURRAH~! *dances* Anon is SO super relieved that you liked the fill and it even made you laugh, because I was a bit worried about them being OOC - phew! Also I'm utterly pleased that you read this in their 'voices', that is *such* a compliment, thank you! ;; (And I love Jennifer Tilly's voice in general - she made Grace's character extra sweet and likeable imo!)
Yeah, I was actually surprised at how enjoyable I found the movie, because I'd heard it hadn't done so well with critics and I almost *never* see fanart for it, so... well, shouldn't judge movie by its fandom, huh? Thanks again for the prompt, though; I never forsaw myself writing fic for this movie and I'm happy to finally be able to add it to the list of Disney flicks I saw/liked~ (:
And now, I want more Buck/Grace. Darnit! *shakesfist* Just what I needed, another rare pair for me to fawn over! XD
Also~ yep! The timeskip prompt, that's the one! :D

Aaahhhh I am still squeeing over this fic. Seriously, thank you so much! X3 I love Jennifer Tilly's voice too -- I think she's one of the main reasons why I love Celia from Monsters, Inc. so much! She just has this really sweet and friendly voice.
Yeah I'm still bitter at the critical reception Home on the Range got! TT___TT Ah well, most reviewers said you have to be a kid to find it entertaining and I suppose I really just am a kid on the inside.
Hee, rare pairs are the best! ♥
So, regarding that timeskip prompt... BIZARRE coincidence, but there's a reply to that prompt, right?
THAT WAS ME.
(At least I think it was... sometimes I get confused because all my comments are anonymous.)
You have good taste, anon. :) I guess this is just a sign that I should fill it, without worrying if it'll be good enough! XD I absolutely love that prompt, so I'll do my best!

Totally welcome! Gah, and I'm still so pleased you like it~! x} Also, I somehow hadn't realized she was Celia until I looked her up as I was writing your fic, but it all made sense once I did. I was first introduced to her voice as Piloff, in Bartok the Magnificent (which was another fun movie, features the bat from Anastasia in case you've never seen it).
Aw, if that's the case, we need more critics who're kids at heart to be reviewin' these kind of movies! xP Nothin wrong with being a kid~ <3
Heck yeah! *highfive* :D
WHOA, *was* it? XD omg! haha that IS bizarre! (lol me too - it's funny how I'll read an old prompt and be like 'this totally sounds like something I'D want, and then I have a half-flashback and a 'wait, that was me..?' moment. it's fun xD)
but yeah, wow, it must be destiny speakin' to ya! Don't worry too much about it; seriously, *anything* you write, I will most definitely *love*~ also, thank you, and you have good taste, too! (I pretty much like all the pairs you listed in your original HOTR prompt lol) I'm super stoked that you love the prompt )yay!) and I hope you have fun with it! Can't wait to see what comes of this~ 8DD
(also, I know I've talked too much already ahah, but I have one more question - did you happen to comment on the last Pinocchio fill on this meme? just wondering, you don't hafta say heh)

Hm... I've not seen Bartok the Magnificent. I've heard of it but I never even realized it was related to Anastasia! I might check it out since I watched Anastasia recently.
All right, I am working on it! Slowly, but it's going to get done, I promise. :D

Wooo! *happily anticipates* 8DD
Wow, um, YEAH, that actually -was- my fill! Oh man, haha! I am *too* amused by this. I *thought* something about you seemed familiar... can't believe I was right, though! XD
While I'm at it here, lemme give ya a belated thanks for your really kind and detailed feedback on the Pinocchio fill. It made me SO happy when I read it, because you commented on things I was thinking about as I wrote (like ICness and if Lampwick's bg worked and such) and I appreciated that. So, yeah, thanks alot! :D

Haha, I was actually thinking the same thing regarding friending! You seem like a fun person to talk to, so yknow what? I'll make an exception here - WHOOSH! I throw off the cloak of anon! XD
*rubs eyes, blinks*
(Wow, I've been under there for so long o0)
So yep, feel free to friend me and such~ :D Just maybe pm me or somethin' to let me know it's you, ya? (Or not, I'll prolly realize it's you, since people don't friend me every day xP)

Pinocchio is one of my favorites. Is the prompt you're referring to this one: http://community.livejournal.com/disney_kink/4400.html?thread=2668848#t2668848
