To most, Sofia was the ideal princess. Polite, beautiful, and friendly. She spoke firmly and sweetly when talked to, however her family noted that otherwise she kept to herself. It wasn't the worst trait imaginable but it was a far-cry from the ever-social child she was before the war.
Zara studied Sofia daily in her mirror and thus knew Sofia well, possibly even better than her own parents in many regards. She knew her quiet nature wasn't out of shyness or even trauma, like her mother often worried. She kept her thoughts to herself. It was safer that way. Better. If no one knew your secrets, they couldn't use them against you. Aloofness also made people keep their guards down against you. Reading military material, royal biographies, and textbooks had taught Sofia much about how to behave. In many ways, her own studying taught her more than school had.
Zara was glad she had took an interest in the princess years ago. She had grown very interesting.

They met again at another ball some time later. It was Sofia's twentieth birthday and royalty from all-around came to see the beautiful young princess come of age.
Zara couldn't help but notice Sofia's disinterest in courting over the years. It became more and more noticeable as the years passed. She had wondered if the girl was emotionally stunted. She never did behave like a normal adolescent, hormonal and lovesick. Now Zara was beginning to wonder if she was wrong in her speculation.
Sofia tried to best to hide her emotions, she really did, but Zara knew her too well. She could see behind her mask and see the annoyance and disgust behind the young womans eyes whenever a man neared her with certain intentions. Every kiss of the knuckles and poorly-hidden flirt was met with a forced smile. The poor thing looked so uncomfortable but no one else seemed to notice. Not her parents, not her brother (not that anyone expected him to), not her heavily-pregnant sister, and not even her best friends.
Zara felt special. She knew this woman so well and they had enchanged under twenty words tops.
As Zara watched the taller woman struggle not to cringe, she began thinking of a new way to ruin this princess. It was more personal than she had originally planned but she didn't mind. It'd be fun if anything.
xxxx
Sofia knew she was far from the ideal princess. She was too tall, too round, too wrong. She couldn't explain it any other way. This... wrongness of hers was unbareable. No books ever mentioned princesses being more interested in other princesses then princes. She had never heard of such a thing.
She wanted to tell her family but an irrational fear kept her from doing so. She didn't fear them being angry with her or ashamed of her, but the nagging worries of "What if I'm the only one who feels like this?" and various of "What if"'s trailed though her mind.
So the princess kept it hidden. Ignored it. Maybe it'd go away if she payed no attention to it.

Zara and Sofia met for the third time when Zara invited her to a ball. Not her parents, not her brother, and not her sister (not that she had the time with a toddler around the house). Just Sofia.
It was a small ball. Zara bribed almost every guest to make it seem like a real ball, but it wasn't. Zara had no kingdom anymore. She had been banished by her own parents as a teenager. She couldn't conquer any kingdoms and thus was left on her own, a wandering witch. She took the experience with stride though. It hardened her. It taught her not to trust, not to care about others.
So Zara left her so-called family and never looked back. She spent all her youth studying witchcraft and made it her goal to stop girls from becoming princesses. It only caused misery. When that failed, she retaliated in anger and made it her new goal to ruin any princess she could get her hands on. She wanted others to feel her pain and know the awful truth of royalty. It took months of searching but she eventually found a princess whose happiness was too sickly sweet for her own good. This litte brunette child looked like the perfect girl to break.
It turned out she barely needed to work to break her.
xxxx
Sofia was nearly half her age but Zara didn't care. She worked hard to seduce the painfully naive woman. Sofia thought herself worldly however books couldn't teach her many things. Her textbooks never taught her how to kiss or how to please a woman. Thankfully, she had Zara to teach her.
xxxx
Zara must admit, Sofia was still quite cute. Even into her twenties her face was round with babyfat and her wide blue eyes were expressive as they'd ever been.
When Sofia arrived, Zara put on her own mask of sweetness and showed the young princess around her home. She noted the way her light brown hair was curled ever so youthfully and the way her hips swished when she walked. She looked like the ideal princess. But looks could be deceiving, and Zara knew that better than anyone.

The noise of the ball seemed so far away right now. Zara barely even remembered there was a party. None of it mattered right now. All that mattered was the woman pinned underneath her.
xxxx
Zara and Sofia spent the day conversing. Sofia felt it was so invigorating to meet another woman who enjoyed the things she did. "We have so much in common," she thought, "Why didn't we meet earlier?"
As the ball began, Zara noticed the younger princesses discomfort. Maybe it was all the men leering at her, maybe it was the stiffling feeling of being alone and around new people, but the discomfort was obvious on Sofia's face. She made no effort to keep up her mask this time.
So Zara took pity on the poor woman and invited her to talk in practice. She hadn't planned on being so obvious with her intentions so early, but it all moved so quickly.
She couldn't help notice how soft Sofia's skin looked or how pretty her lips were. Zara was never one for subtly when she craved something, so before she knew it she had her hand on the younger womans knee and was centimeters apart. Light blue eyes met deep green ones. Sofia stumbled on her words as Zara leaned in closer and closer...
Zara gave her a chance to say "no". She didn't. Zara noticed several seconds into her kiss that the taller woman wasn't resisting or pulling away either.
"This was easier than expected", Zara thought as she deepened the kiss. Sofia, as always, was eager to learn.
They didn't go beyond kissing that first night. It wasn't the right time and Zara didn't want to shock the poor woman anymore than she needed. But as she pulled away, she noticed the flush of her cheeks and the hazy look in her eyes. The cute daze she seemed to be in as they left for the ball again. She noticed Sofia kept on glancing at her the entire night.
Corrupting this girl would be much more fun than she had thought over ten years ago.
