Presents for others

My co-worker has had a prettily wrapped Christmas present of truffles sitting on her desk all week. Someone asked her why she hasn't opened it yet, and I said it was because she didn't want to eat it (she's often lamenting about food). Turns out though that she hasn't opened it because she doesn't get presents and thought it was pretty. I suggested she do a name exchange with her family, thinking it was a money thing. But no, her mother doesn't believe in Christmas because it makes people feel a certain way and if you love someone you should tell them so all the time, not just at holidays. While I believe this is true, (Jase and I say I love you so often it would drive friends and family crazy if they heard it, but we like it.) however I'm saddened that she doesn't get presents. So now I'm racking my brain trying to come up with an inexpensive present for a workaholic with a husband, three kids and no hobbies that I know of. I will do my best job in wrapping it for her.

I also have to buy a toy for Toys for Tots. Apparently there are 5,000 more families this year than last in need of food and toys for the holidays in our county. So whereas they have been getting a lot of donations, they're afraid they might come up short this year. Money might be tight for us, but no kid should go without a present or more importantly food.
