From an article: "Hunting wolves is allowed 365 days a year across 85% of Wyoming, where wolves are classified as shoot-on-sight vermin. Guns, snares, explosives, trucks, and snowmobiles - almost any form of violence is allowed to kill these animals."
What is the point in the legality of hunting wolves after they have reintroduced them to the lower 48 only just in 1995? This is a predator that keeps prey populations steady and balanced and proves to have positively enhanced the ecosystem. Not to mention each wolf is important to the pack's survival.
Trophy hunting? I never understood it. It's unnatural, pointless and barbaric. The most successful female pack leader was killed at only 6 years old with a hunter's bullet, sending her pack in complete disarray. Yes, wolves mourn like humans. I have never in my life (well, in the modern world) seen a creature so hated and misunderstood. Yet, we created dogs out of them... I throw my hands up in confusion and frustration.
