Roadtrip 2011 Day Two
Highway 3 was one of those old trunk roads - those both our parents used to take before the grand Lebuhraya's came up (like the NS highway). And apart from the causeway, was our first toll stop.
We noticed that in these parts, drivers relied less on the Touch n Go cards and even less on the Smart Tag. Hmm?
The route to Fraser's Hill was well, like any other Lebuhraya, not really exciting..just chugging along and counting kilometers before the next food/pee/stretch break. But the drive up Bukit Fraser, a lovely (and quiet) ex-colonial hill station was brilliant. I suppose continentals were built for roads like this. Damn shiok to drive!!! And the weather..oohhh...
The corporation that takes care of Fraser's Hill seemed to have gotten the traffic sorted out - in the past, it was only one way, even hours up, odd hours down. Or something like that. With the 'new' system, we wondered why it took so long to come up with such a plan.
Nothing much for the first day. Arrived a little late, so had sometime to eat, rest and take a short walk to the waterfall. I suppose it could be that it wasn't tourist season, but very few of the staff were helpful or friendly (esp the tourist info staff). Ah well.
The rooms were adequate I suppose. But you could smell an air of mouldy fecundity that was annoying. And it was rather dark. But we had a nice view... of the golf course...
The waterfall was a tad disappointing - but it didn't matter. We had fun getting there :)
The food was too expensive at Ye Olde Smokehouse, so we decided against it.
Cute initial impression but the disarmed lady frog just made it a little too creepy.
WIn most of my travels, I also encounter lots of dogs. In this trip there were lots of cats. Where did all the dogs go?
