2B or not 2B Part 1: License and Registration

Mar 01, 2011 17:30

Believe it or not, I've always wanted to ride a motorbike. Fooling around in Sapa doesn't really count. The urge came right after I passed my Class 3 in 1998 (in the army. I miss driving that Mercedes 4x4!

But I digress... so I've finally done it. Went down with gentlegiantt  just now to register.

The process was simple and pleasant. I was served by this very pretty girl at counter 2. She looked like a life sized doll. As in, really. I wished I had balls to ask for a photo! Well, I guess I would if I were into that sort of thing.

The whole BBDC (or whatever driving school) routine/experience is terribly foreign to me. I learnt in the army - and later took the test in Perth. It all felt needlessly complicated? Hmm. Sign up here, money transfer kiosk there, book lesson here. Report there. gentlegiantt  was really patient in explaining to me the workings of the system. Not so keen on the lack of forward planning but hey, I suppose I can tahan this rite of passage!

So my first practical theory is on the 12th of March. Oh gosh. Basic Theory. AGAIN!?
Total expenditure thus far: $88.01

Enrolment (one year) $47.08
Theory Lesson $8.03
Practical $22.90

So... will I emerge victorious? Unscathed? Or fail miserably at this task with my tail between my legs?

Stay tuned for Part 2 - Basic Theory 1.01 and Practical 1.01!
