The Voice of God

Mar 11, 2009 23:12

I am so tired...

I really need the extra energy...extra boost.

Sigh.

I'm almost up to here with Chinese Music.

screw this...I'm turning Ravel on...

How can one say no to Ravel? Composer, master, magician, conjurer of beautiful sonic scapes... The first time I ever heard this in the concert hall, I was gripped by the sounds - so loving, so tender, as it slowly weaves in and out of your head... filling every cell, every fibre... every last part of your body....

It's the kind of sonic experience that changes you forever. Your perspectives on life, on music, on a great many things that I can't express with words. Something so special....

Celli and Bassi play a simple descending line. Supported by muted horns and strings, accompanied by flowing, watery flutes and clarinets, harps and celesta. More instruments join in...he brass, the lower winds.. clarinets and violas play a simple melody..rising , with numerous bird calls, the choir... the music builds and finally swells into a soundscape of orgasmic delight!

It is truly the voice of God, whatever he/she/it may be. Strangely...for an agnostic, I talk about god a lot don't I? Hmm spiritual then... Anyways... no lectures please.

Everyone morning, when my phone strikes 6am...this is the music that plays...

Maurice Ravel - Daphnis et Chloe ... Part 2 Lever du jour (Day break)

I think Abbado and the London Symphony did this best...but can't find. The best quality is Dutoit and the Montreal symphony so they will have to do! Sorry! There's one of Ashkenazy and the NHK, but no choir! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrOJcEHXYWM
