Woke up early again... so tired so we needed a traditional cup of Vietnamese Coffee. It was STRONG with a kind of hazelnutty taste! We were awake the whole day!
This time, we were headed for the Cu Chi (gucci) tunnels. We started off by boat (yes again!) but this time up the Saigon River. This river is very different, its very polluted and the left you see the poorer side of Saigon, and the other, the richer district. Was it district two?
Anyways, it was a long 2 hr 30 min ride. But further up the river, it was more scenic and more peaceful as there was less boat traffic
The Cu Chi tunnel experience...I'm not sure what to feel. It's interesting and amazing. The starting video was very kitsch - the usual socialist/communist propaganda with requisite patriotic music. I didn't feel the sense of history while I was there...maybe because everything was too...'made up' for tourist. I rolled my eyes near the end when you could fire a M16 or AK47. USD1 per bullet! The 'men' were all excited. I just rolled my eyes again and again.
I did a video of me going through the tunnel, but it didn't come out right! So wasted! I had everything planned and everything!! OH well! The tourists were so slow I had to duck walk (I was not going to crawl!)
It was a half day tour, so we got back to Saigon early. We had Pho for lunch! And went Shopping at Pham Nguo Lam and Ben Thanh!! Finally!!
We had atas French dinner with Mock at Carmargue. We spent more money on one dinner then our food for the ENTIRE trip!!
