The Pop Culture of my Mind

June has been a very quiet month for me.
It seems that as of Memorial Day every one went on fucking vacation. The Salon is adjourned till September, there are some auxiliary shows that the Salon interns are putting together which I will do print design for but that is still significantly less work than I normally do. Freelance work has slowed to a trickle.
So besides scrambling for more projects I have taken it upon myself to get into good shape, nothing crazy but definitely aiming towards my “gay weight”. I had my doctor recommend a nutritionist so that I can really eat well and not get retarded about calories and fad diets. My nutritionist turns out to be really sensible, even accommodating my ample drinking habit.
I have also got on board with 100 Pushups, I am at week 5, center column and I am feeling the burn. I don’t know if I will actually be able to do 100 push ups in a row but I am up to 39 at once and over a hundred in reps of 5. My shoulders are almost too big for my t-shirts, which reminds me that I need to watch “Pumping Iron” again.

There was also a lost ten days where I couldn’t remember what I did at all, then I realized that I had spent most of that time watching the first two seasons of True Blood like my life depended on it.
It’s really addicting and campy and will hold me over nicely until Mad Men comes back on. Just the opening credits make me want to go to the south, have sultry adventures and speak with a drawl. I had no choice but to watch the series once Natasha told me that my favorite TV actor, Alexander Skarsgard, is a 1000 year old Viking vampire in it. He is so hot that I cannot look at him directly with out tittering! He is perhaps the one Swedish export that I love as much as I love IKEA. In fact if he tasted like IKEA meatballs I would have to marry him.

And if he’s off the market I am going to go on a pilgrimage to see Mark Ryden and his delightfully creepy collection of Abe Lincoln memorabilia.

I managed to catch the tail end of his gallery show in Chelsea and he is still one of my favorite artists/painters/illustrators of all time.

My art boner for him can be seen from space!

I have also painted my kitchen royal blue.
