Writing 1/14/10 [DC01]
Haven't been doing my writing(unsurprising).
Girl!Roommate got back in town a couple days ago, so we celebrated by hitting up this local coffee shop she found before she left.
It's a super awesome place with a very bohemian look to it. A bare(save for a layer of paint), unfurnished cement floor, dark walls covered with art by local artists, and lots of mismatched couches and chairs all over the place. Free wifi and power outlets -- all a geek needs.
I'm not a coffee drinker(or tea drinker, or booze drinker), so I ordered a very enjoyable hot chocolate. They have smoothies too, so I imagine I'll be digging those once the warmer weather hits. The place isn't far from our house at all, less than a couple miles. Also, the barista was super hot. Curves everywhere and a glorious, beautiful afro that accentuated her face. She was running everything behind the bar by herself, and was managing to run around, brew about a million drinks and still take people's orders and money.
Anyways, girl!roommate and I sat around and wrote for about three hours, and I managed to...well, not catch myself up. Nothing like that. But at least get marginally closer to my monthly goal. If I do 1k words a day from the 15th to the end of the month => victory!
In any case, I definitely wanna make going to that place a regular thing. I got a lot more work done without any distractions, and I'm happy to report that my netbook is still comfortable to use, even when it's on my lap!
At least my Yearly Goal shows up on the bar now.
