We had Caylin's kid party today. We did it at a roller rink and I'm SO GLAD that we did! I didn't need to do anything but book the party, they did everything else. Magoo brought the cupcakes, which were little hamburgers. They were cute! She had a bakery do them. The rink set everything up, served the pizza and the pop, cleaned up, etc. I knew I wouldn't have the energy for anything else. The downside was she wasn't able to invite a lot of guests because it was expensive. I do think that's fine though, there is no need to have a huge party. She invited 11 other girls, so with her it would have made 12. I think 12 kids for a 12-year old's party is good. They all knew each other and they all had fun so it was good!
We didn't have a lot of guests and the party cost us about $200, but I think that we spent about that on her other parties and we had to do stuff. Next week we are having her family party (because she HAS to have a family party, so okay) but for that I'm having everyone do it potluck. Her grandma will do the homemade pizza, Magoo said she would bring another cake from the bakery (yay!) her grandma from her mom's side will bring taco salad, and I will bring pasta salad and Oreo Balls (Caylin's request). I will see if Tom's mom can do a fruit salad. They got a pool so we can go swimming for the party and just hang out. It should be great!
I have good days and bad days. Mostly it's the heart issues, which are starting to subside a bit. My digestive enzymes seem to help a lot with both the heart issue and heartburn. When I have a bad day, I just need to sit down and relax.
I am going to try to have a Mary Kay party for Caylin in a few weeks. She is starting to get interested in makeup. She went into the bathroom and tried to put the makeup on. When she came out, I laughed at her because I thought she was joking around! Except she was serious--so I felt really bad. She tried to do eyeliner and ended up looking like a raccoon. Then she tried to do blush, but looked like a clown! And she had eyeshadow all the way up her eyes all smeared. Her lipstick was crooked, looked like an old lady's. The only make up she owns is what we use for Cheer and dance recitals, so it's PERFORMANCE makeup. Dark colors, very bright, sparkly eyeshadow. Perfect for competition, clownish for every day! I'm hoping the Mary Kay lady has some nice stuff for tweens, can help her put it on right (and give her a "professional" opinion, which she is more likely to accept) and she can invite some friends and have fun with it! I just need to find a consultant!
We picked out our girl name! It's going to be Elora Rose Wheeler. Caylin picked the middle name and we like it. Tom has conceded to spelling it Ellie Rose Wheeler for a nickname.
Now we have to wait and see if 'Lil Wheels is going to be Jayden Thomas or Elora Rose!
That's all for now. I'm sleepy, bedtime for me and 'Lil Wheels!
