As one of my previous "
Found Objects", I linked to the "Official Jack Kerouac Website" and the tour
schedule for the handwritten manuscript of On the Road. The work and whatever exhibit might be accompanying it is moving pretty slow. It spends two to three months in each city. So though there aren't a lot of cities scheduled, it's booked into 2009.
This evening, I ran across a short video
montage of Kerouac interview clips that also includes a brief bit from an author's reading and Walter Cronkite announcing his death. This particular film is only seven minutes long and the interview excerpts are from Steve Allen and Firing Line.
What's even better and perhaps a good example of how I run across some of my "Found Objects"; Linked from the sidebar of this first video is a twenty-seven minute cut from a
documentary about the man. It includes archival footage of Keroauc, Allen Ginsberg and Neal Cassady, but the bulk of the interviews are with Mr Cassady's widow and other contemporaries. This film includes extended readings from the author. And, also linked from this same location is a twenty-six minute short
film which is taken from the third act of a play Keroauc wrote, according to the IMDB
entry. It stars a few of his contemporaries and is narrated by the author, himself.
