That's me in the spotlight

At last, it is adequately cold here. I'm the type of person who insists on wearing seasonal clothing even when the seasons aren't being themselves, and so there were a couple days last month when I was the lone Christmas shopper wearing a wool jacket among the masses wearing short sleeves and shorts. But these last few days have been really ( Read more... )

Laurie, how much do I love that you mentioned the orange crayon segment? I was only OBSESSED with it as a child.

Looking forward to reading about the conference!

Like all good things, the crayon segment is on YouTube! I actually have it bookmarked, because every so often I just have to watch crayons being made.

p.s. don't you suppose the crayon-making has process has changed since the '70s when that skit was made? they should make a new film about crayon-making.

I think the orange crayon short is very important to identify this generation. If you remember it, then you are part of the orange crayon generation. I can't think of anything better to name it.

I also wonder if people are as observant as I like to think I am. When alone as a child I would narrate my actions in my head as I would in a story; It is how I realized I was a writer. I always want to know what strangers think of me when they see me. I kind of hope they think I am eccentric. I'm not sure why.

Ooh, I like this!

I always want to know what strangers think of me when they see me.

Me too, me too. I used to have some good perspective on this, but as I've grown up and my perception of identity has grown larger and splintered off into so many directions, I realize I have very little idea of how people -- even people I know -- view me.

Well that is by far the tripiest thing I have ever seen. It really is amazing to think about the number of things created by Sesame Street for the LSD community.

Also what camp did you go to. Was it called "Happy Bordello Summer Camp" by any chance?

Tripiest? No, that would be the video that Miss Hoover's class watched in "Lisa the Vegetarian." I'm going to Bovine University!

I think, in terms of trippiness (trippyness?), Sesame Street was always outdoing itself. There was something I remember with dancing purple and green splotches, and the uber-retro pinball cartoon about counting to 12, and a couple cartoon skits featuring guys in zoot suits. I will have to have a YouTube blitz sometime later this week to find all this stuff.

I represented at Girl Scout camp, yo.

Also, we are hooked up for the Decemberists!

Oh, I'm constantly narrating my surroundings as if I would write a journal entry about it. It has been driving me crazy lately. You probably would have made it into my subconscious thoughts in a blog format. :)

LOL! You know how you sometimes get random people in the background of photographs? I used to wonder how many other albums across the country - or world, even - I was in :-/

But yeah, you bring up another interesting point...I wonder now if I've ever come up in someone else's LJ!

About the photos: me too! I imagine that I probably make a few guest appearances on people's Flickr pages that I don't know about.

It seems to be the thing on non-LJ blaawgs these days to add a stock photo or image to all your posts. I'm convinced that one day soon, I'm going to be reading someone's site and be faced with a photo of ME that someone plucked from Google Image Search.
