Last night was great.

Every year, the City of Baltimore installs strings of Christmas lights on the Washington Monument. There's a stage for musical performances, and booths are set up for local restaurants to sell food and drink. At the end of the evening, the Washington Monument is illuminated and there are fireworks.

i've been looking forward to this for a while. Master had never attended the event, so last night we bundled up and wandered down to the park. Wow! So many people. Every year, so many people. (In 2012, the crowd was estimated at 5,000.) At times, it was difficult to push through the crowd, especially as the time for the switch to be thrown grew closer.

We each had a chicken kabob wrap from one of the vendors. Master got some coffee. i got some hot cider. We each got a pastry for dessert.

The fireworks are always a lot of fun. Typically, a fireworks display is up in the sky, far away. These fireworks are much closer, at roof level, so i find them to be much more thrilling. :-)

Afterwards, we followed the crowd heading around the corner and south on Charles Street, which was actually taking us away from my condo. However, as we passed in front of the Peabody Institute, i noticed a sign advertising a free holiday concert. Yay!

The show was great. All brass instruments and lots of different types of music. One of the tuba players was particularly cute. i sat there, enjoying the performance, and thought about how awesome my neighborhood is.

i like it when Baltimore has something nice to show to Master. And now, we're going to another concert on Sunday and we will keep an eye out for other performances. There's almost always something going on at the Peabody.
