Today I took the day off so I could go to the dentist and have yet another filling. My mouth is becoming more and more full of fillings. And feelings. I am now fully aware of whenever I drink or eat something cold. Zing!
Work has decided that we will be off on recognized holidays, so I was also off on Monday. I spent most of the time hanging out with my mom, talking about life and such. She seems to think she wasn’t a good mother to me growing up, but I assured her that she did a fine job and that her horrible taste in men did not reflect negatively on how she raised me.
On my way home I stopped at Best Buy to look at computer parts, because my current computer is on its last leg; my plan was to slowly piece together a new one. Out of curiosity I took a peak at their desktop computers and there was a Gateway on sale that had a lot of the specs I was looking for. The price was cheaper than if I was going to assemble it myself…so I bought it.
As it turns out, that wasn’t a good idea. The power supply in it wasn’t strong enough for the video card I have, so I had to buy a better power supply. I put it all together and the system was not recognizing that I had a different video card in it. I researched it and the power supply I installed had plenty of watts but still didn’t have enough amps for the video card. SIGH. So, I took back the power supply on Tuesday and bought a better one with more watts and more amp-age, installed it and tried again - still it didn’t recognized the new video card. Even bigger SIGH.
Long story short (too late), today I decided the problem must be with the motherboard and I’m going to just return the whole damn computer. My patience has run out with it. So, I’ve put the new power supply and new video card into my old computer and it works…for a while. I think the problem with my old computer is the cpu fan has died. I’ll need to replace that, which should do me for a while until I can save up more money for a better computer on down the line.
Technology just keeps getting better.
