Notice that girl standing in the corner over there
She's different, so you stop and stare
She looks so vulnerable, sweet, and kind
You walk on by she looks just fine
You looked at her and thought you knew
Relaxed and calm, withstands all she goes through
She appears content, like she accepts life gladly
You looked all you could, but didn't yet see
Beneath the pretty skin and the shy, offered smile
She's been desperate for help for the longest while
Too afraid to ask and to hurt to let go
She pulls on her mask, tries not to let it show
Every day she drags on hoping someone will see her
But you all barely look, hardly see her pain either
All she wants is the comfort of your warm, open arms
Some safety from cruel people and all of their harm
She used to think your games would end and she'd soon be free
She knows better now, as you should, too, if you could only see
