Hello

question: do you ever find that, sometimes, when you read a really good book, and find a character that you really like and feel you can relate to, you begin to say things they might say or take on some of their speaking patterns? I absolutely do. If I read a lot, the words take on rhythm. It becomes easier to read as I continue along through the book or given piece and after a time, it's music. And the words stay imprinted in my mind and seem to continue along even after I've stopped reading, just like music gets stuck in one's head after the stereo's long been turned off.

I'm starting to talk, eat, think, breathe like I imagine the character Oshima in Haruki Murakami's Kafka on the Shore might. I won't spoil anything about the book, for those who haven't read it (it's quite good) but I will say that Oshima is very unusual, intelligent, generous, patient, and full of integrity. So if I'm taking on some of his charactertics, I suppose it's not a bad thing.

However, I would like to take advantage of the nosedive I've taken into reading again and make some progress in my film history textbook. I promised Robin (my film advisor) and myself that I'd study the things which I didn't quite understand last year and now's a good time to do it.

I also need to make some progress on the Calvin Johnson situation, among others, and get ready for school.
