Dry Cleaning in Mayberry Part II

Sep 13, 2005 09:28

Part of my new freelance life is I spend much less on dry cleaning, granted, but I do have a meeting tomorrow (actually ...3 meetings when it's all said & done) so I do need the jacket & shirt I dropped off at Carolina Cleaners last Tuesday to be driven from their current location 35 miles away back to my town so I can wear them to the meetings. This, I must add, is my only suit jacket. Also just about the only acceptable shirt.

The elderly personnel in this nascent dry cleaning store do not seem to understand this and just called to see if I could possibly wait until tomorrow afternoon for my clothes. Unsaid: the also elderly store owner forgot to bring them from her Hendersonville store yesterday and really does not care to make a special trip today so they called to see if I was going to make a stink. You bet your ass I will...I used to live in NYC, by god! The dry cleaning prices here are similar to NYC too ($$$$!!)

But I had to keep it nice and sweet with the elderly gentleman and will need to continue to be a sweetheart (albeit with a nasty edge) until this biddy gets back to Brevard with my clothes. Hard to be an unfettered bitch in a town of 7000. (But I will probably find a way.)
