I WANT TO MEET THIS MAN
I was watching a late night talk show the other night, and they had on a guy who by far beats out the inventor of the pet rock for pure business genius.... In 1980, this guy, an international law student, decided he wanted to become a real estate agent, but didn't know where to set out. Then, one night he was looking out his window at the moon and said to himself "hmmm, no one owns that." So he used his international law background to discover that while countries couldn't stake claims to any land off of earth, there was surprisingly no law against individual claims. So, he filed property claims for the moon, the 8 other planets, and all their moons... After gaining ownership, he established a "Lunar real estate firm." And, apparently, mostly out of pure speculation, companies including hotel and restaurant chains actually bought land from him. Apparently there are now over 100,000 owners of lunar property, and the value of lunar property is now worth more than 100 times what it was supposedly worth in 1980. This guy has made 8 million dollars off lunar speculation of land.... also, to manage the laws of property ownership and such, he has established a "galactic government" with a ratified constitution that gives him almost complete power. This man is my fucking hero.
