What is the difference between average, normal, and stereotypical? Is there a difference? I just got into an argument where we were trying to define these words and I would really appreciate knowing what you guys think.

Average is more uninteresting but then there's the whole mathematical aspect such as the bell curve... I think average is the worst here.
Stereotypical means, well, you know. THE prep. Or THE jock, goth, pothead, etc...... Stereotypes aren't "average", but they're sure as hell not original.
Uhm? Yeah...

I didn't really mean how you applied them. That was part of the argument was that everyone applies them differently. I want to know what they mean in their pure form or their "essentia" if you're Sartre.

Forget that. I mean in what do they mean in their pure meaning, not when being applied to a certain culture or situation. (essentia deals with the purpose or the how and why of beings)
