I’m staying at this funny little motel on Olive Avenue called the Safari Inn. It has the essence and feel of old world Hollywood/Vegas It wouldn’t look out of place at all if it were sitting on the edge of strip in 1963. This is my second of five days in California. I’ve been spending most of my time helping Jesse (my brother) find an apartment in Burbank (North LA). The area’s really nice and close to the movie studios and other happenings he wants to get into. No luck yet but hopefully tomorrow will be more promising. When I’m not on the apartment search I’m usually hanging out at this little sushi bar at the corner called “Sushi Dake” I’ve only been here two days but I swear I’ve been in there at least 7 times already. I’m particularly fond of the sushi chef “Jiho” (gee-hoe) and I believe the feelings mutual, when I returned the second time he offered to buy me a bottle of Sake. I had never had it before so I was very excited to try it I discovered a great new drink. I could best describe Jiho as a young Jackie Chan, full of life, friendly, and fun. I felt a connection with him right away I’m glad I met him. Sidenote: His children’s names are William and Julie. My mothers name Is Julie and her fathers name was William just thought that was kind of funny. Hopefully I’ll be able to rent a car tomorrow and drive down the coast to see an old buddy from High School. He lives in a little town called Irvine about a hour south and word is he’s learning how to weld and almost done with his apprenticeship, about to make some nice cash. I hope he’s doing alright. I’ll check back in sometime before I go home.
Thoughts/Poetry:
The ocean is so beautiful
But for some reason I only desire to walk east
Because each step east is a step closer to you
A step closer to home

Dream Catcher
Starlit sidewalks carrying my lazy thoughts
Under the west coast sky, gliding between concrete and heaven
Somewhere between the machines and the angels my dreams float
Over the Hollywood hills, conquering the Rockies and sad smog of downtown phoenix traveling due east across small-town America, over the heartland
Waiting to land safely in my lovers hands
She’s surrounded by lakes, but lakes certainly couldn’t delay dream’s
Not dreams of love and the future
