Anyway, so a lot of us have seen the new lj stuff is pretty much ridiculous, and without the subject lines we're sort of screwed. Anyway, I figure you can use this as an open complaint forum or whatever you like... I'm going to offer an alternative I happened upon in anon comm!!
I just downloaded
this cool lj add-on thing, which Angie has actually been using for a while. It sort of fixed the problems i had with it, and LOL it made LJ look nicer. Anyway! I'm taking some sceencaps in a second, which I'll add to this post as I go. Maybe this will help other people out, too. OH! and I should note that it doesn't mess up customized journal layouts either, so no worries there.

http://i43.tinypic.com/15yisdh.png Also somebody has
developed some thing to make custom comment pages more like the old style. Subject lines are still there, too! Still trying to see what I can find. Keep in mind that paid accounts have the option to browse in their own CSS!style, which is cool too if you can find a layout!! Also for people looking for a reasonable layout to switch over to
I recommend minimalism and these layouts. If there are any problems, let me know! I can try to help.
Ah ha!
A list of compiled options. Suggested lj layouts and whatever. embrace it!
Poll feedback in attempt to highlight the issues at hand. Who knows if it will help, but you can voice your opinion now. Or something.
WATCH OUT PAID ACCOUNTS It's been floating around that old automatic payments have randomly restarted (?!?!). It hasn't happened to me as far as i know, gulp! but make sure any account that used to have a paid hasn't suddenly turned back on.
Check here about it.
YAY PLUS ACCOUNTS NOW HAVE AN EDIT BUTTON?! Idk go embrace it. "OH YAY I CAN NOW EDIT MY COMMENTS AFTER WAITING THREE MINUTES FOR IT TO LOAD?!?!?!"
Custom comments changed their default setting to disable custom comment pages. Careful about that, I guess.
