Who: Clive and Flora Where: Near the park When: Let's say now Rating: G-PG Summary: Clive's finally decided to just "get on with it". The Log: ( Your love is gonna' drown. )
"Really?" She studies him a moment before shrugging. "I suppose I'll be left to wonder what it was. How tragic." She teases, trying to look unhappy. Really, it doesn't work all that well, and she just ends up smiling anyway.
"Oh my, that face," he responds, playful as ever. "The sadness in those eyes can express. They could crush my heart; worse yet. Oh, Flora, how could I make amends?"
He can't be serious, either. It was fun to pretend... and not have to hide it.
"I don't know, Clive...Forgetting something like that--" She looks away dramatically. She's going to end up laughing if this persists. "--well, it'll take a while to forgive."
Now he looks a bit flustered. He glances to his side. "Oh, well... I suppose I was... Oh my, it seems I've brought us to a more serious topic. Perhaps we should forget I said anything on that matter."
"Yes, well, shoving things under a rug and pretending they don't exist doesn't get anyone anywhere." She pauses, taking a moment to study him. She's picking up habits oh god.
"I want to know what you mean. I won't force it out of you, but..." She sighs.
He thinks quietly a moment, crossing his arms in front of him and rolling his shoulders with a sigh. "Well, you were so ready to forgive me after all that happened in future London. I think it still boggles me a little."
"Being angry and hating someone are two completely different things. You'd kidnapped me and stuck me in a glass jar of sorts. So of course I'd been upset...and really, all I wanted was an apology. I told the Professor as much.
But no, I didn't hate you."
There was her naivety showing, again. She didn't know how the world worked, what other people saw as acceptable and unacceptable. What should and shouldn't be forgiven. Then again, she...was happier that way. Besides, she probably wouldn't be able to hate him if she tried. Not really.
He reaches out to catch her hand, and pulls it between them. "Oh, my, Flora. I wouldn't like you so well if you weren't so good natured. You know how few people there are out there who I think so well of? I could probably count them on my hand, and somehow they pale in comparison. You're generous, soft spoken, agreeable; and really, any missteps you've taken haven't flawed your personality in the slightest. A bloke like myself can't really compare, can he?"
"Careful! It wouldn't be good if you ended up falling and hurting yourself." Because you know, you're still recovering, gosh.

He smiles, pinching his lips together to form it. He looks at Flora and lets out a little sigh. "You're quite the puzzling young woman."
