......There's only one difference between heroes and madmen. ......It's whether they win or lose. )
In the dream, she was sinking further and further in despite that she was attempting to find a way out--a way back to where she belonged. Without him, she had lost all reason to exist. And yet, Discedo was not the world where she belonged, either.
When she dies, it's like she's finally swimming back to the surface she longed to find. She wasn't scared of death. Rather, death was always something she had prepared herself for.
And so, she finally stirs in her sleep--her movements are unusually gentle for a witch that was known so well for her cruelty. But, it feels like she's awakening from a long night's rest. Blue eyes blink open--and for a second or two, she can only take in her surroundings.

"Good morning, did you rest well?"
He should be more concerned, but those are the only words he can bring himself to say. When someone wakes up from a nap, it's only polite to give them a calm greeting.
There's a bunch of things he wants to complain about, but he realizes there's a time and place for everything. Suddenly hitting Beatrice with his questions won't help her at all.

... Where had she fallen asleep to begin with? Even now, her memory was foggy.
How annoying.
"..." She laughs a little. What a strange dream (if it was one. Perhaps not). "Good morning, indeed. And yet, you've chosen quite the place to rest. ... This is quite strange, even for your standards, Battleeer."

"Sorry, I couldn't find a more suitable for the Golden Witch. But really did you ........have to worry me like thaaat?? You've kept me waiting for a whole week."
Reply
... When would she become used to being treated kindly?
Her lips twitch upwards, attempting to lighten up the atmosphere a bit. "H... Heeeey, Battleeeeer." Her tone is teasing. "Did you miss me so much that I would make you cry without any effort to do that much myself this time...?"
Reply
"Yeah, you don't need to try this time. I'm already crying..... ...."
Battler takes a moment to let the tears out. He catches his breath shortly before looking over at her. He has a tense expression on his face.
"In the past you were the one waiting. For a moment our positions were reversed... Waiting a week is nothing...
You've waited a full six yeaarss!"
Reply
The feeling of waiting for someone--wanting to have faith that someday, they'll come back.

His tone sounds exasperated. It was his fault she suffered for so long. He realizes that.
Reply
During that time, it was a personal Hell that she went through, as all witches did.
"... Is that very ring on your finger not a sign that that time has already come to an end, Battler?"
Reply
Battler looked down at his hand. The Ushriomiya head ring with the eagle engraved on it. Complex emotions take over but he remains silent for a moment.
"Heh, instead of viewing it as an end, why not look at it as a new beginning?"
Reply
Surely, now that she had regained faith in him once more, he would know better than to betray that.
"... A new story, is it..." She cackles a little. "OF course, of course. When a story ends, a new one is to begin, after all."
Reply
A new beginning doesn't seem all that bad. He has his wife after all.
Battler's content with the way things are.
"I'll stand by your side and witness the end of this tale."
Reply
There's a pause on her end, before--
"Battler. Close your eyes."
Reply
This kind of thing wasn't like her, but Beato's never failed to surprise him. He just obediently closes his eyes.
