Like always, there was much on Japan's mind as he straightened some papers and set them aside. Friends, family, work-- all stressful things, none of which involved Shiki. He had a lot to think about, but it was safe to say that he had no idea what sort of meeting he was about to deal with. Instead, the movement of someone in the doorway from the corner of his eye did not draw his attention so urgently.

"Ah, class ended a little bit ago. If you are interested in such a thing, I would not mind setting..." When he finally had bothered to look over from the stack of papers now shoved to a folder on his desk, he realized a few things. First of all, that that was Shiki, whom he barely knew and had harmed Seifer recently. Right, he had let that go rather easily, with Seifer's reassurance that she was fine, but what was the most startling at this moment was her eyes.

That was unusual. "Ah... Ryougi-san, is it?"

"Ah," she replied quite casually, stepping further inside the classroom. The lines and dots were everywhere--the walls, the desks, the windows. On Japan, however, the lines were harder to see, almost fainter. Of course, the dot was still nowhere to be seen. She blinked, allowing her eyes to return to their normal color and deactivating her power. It was just one last precautionary check, but it was good to see that she had her eyes under control.

"You'd be Japan, right?"

Japan tried not to look too visibly shocked when her eyes returned to normal. Was he imagining it? He was very sure that even the reddish-orange light that shone through the windows couldn't make anyone's eyes so strange. He avoided it for now, though, avoiding grabbing for the katana at his hip and instead sliding a folder into one of the drawers of his desk.

"That is correct." Now back to giving her his full attention, he tilted his head just slightly. "Is something needed?"

"I guess you could say that."

In one fluid motion, she took out her knife and tossed the sheath somewhere to the side, charging for Japan with her eyes already glowing again. If the desks should have been getting in her way--well, they certainly didn't seem to be.

Well, that wasn't exactly what he expected. Initially overcome with shock, he focused on getting out of the way, jumping to the side and reaching for his katana with a frown. Immediately his thoughts went back to finding Seifer with that wound... Just what sort of person was Shiki, anyway?

Unsheathing his blade in the next instant, he held it in front of himself with more of a defensive stance than anything. "What is the meaning of this?!" No move to fight back just yet, but he wasn't that far from it. He just wanted to see if a fight could be avoided. Especially in his classroom.

The worst kind of person--anyways, she looked blankly at Japan, as if this kind of situation was an everyday thing. "Someone said that people come back when they've died, so I was a bit curious."

That was at least part of her reasoning; according to Touko, something killed by the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception was permanently dead. Not even reincarnation was supposed to be able to bring them back. Whether or not that would be true in Discedo was something Shiki was mildly curious about. Still, she figured she had no reason not to explain herself completely.

"And I'm testing something out."

"...They do," he mumbled, grip tightening on his sword. That was hardly a sane reason to try to attack somebody. And why him? But he had a feeling that his words would solve nothing and this would be all he heard as for a reason. Shifting a little, Japan pointed the sword at Shiki, still defensive, but with a little more will than before.

Testing...?

"Whatever it is that you are trying to do, I suggest you drop this and move somewhere else."

When was the last time she had a proper duel with someone? It was a shame she didn't have a katana of her own, but she could make due with her knife. Still, she had to wonder if his katana was even any good. This would be disappointing if she couldn't expect a challenge.

She charged in again, knife poised and ready. She'd just have to see for herself, wouldn't she?

Frowning deeply, he stepped back and rose his sword to block any sort of offensive move from Shiki. It was pretty clear now that he wasn't going to be able to avoid this fight. He could handle himself, at least, and he self defense was the perfect reason to have a good fight. It wasn't like he enjoyed it, but it certainly made up for the lack of training recently, right?

After one block, he'll push back with his sword and make a swing of his own.

She raised her knife at that swing, holding him in a deadlock as she looked straight at him. Strange, so strange... the lines were starting to appear easier now, but the fact she couldn't find the point of death straight away was weird by itself. What would it take to see it?

Jumping back, she used her prosthetic arm to flip one of the desks at him. She charged in after it, ready to surprise him should he knock or cut it away.

Japan stared right back, focusing mostly on her strange eyes. Just what did that mean? He wasn't sure he wanted to figure out. But then she had jumped back and he found himself stepping back shakily. And then a desk?! That was more than startling. He did his best to knock it aside with his arm, scowling at the impact and whatever Shiki brought with that charge.

Ignoring whatever cuts came from that, he swung out horizontally with his katana.

Unable to completely dodge that, she narrowed her eyes at tear he made on the sleeve of her kimono, not so much bothered by the actual cut. They were hard to come by, okay. For that she dropped down, using a kick to sweep Japan's legs right from under him. After that she moved to bring her knife straight down on him.

He wasn't quite sure what to do at the kick, awkwardly leaning so his fall turned to something of a hand-stand or a tumble, his free hand swinging his sword up wildly. Yes, he was old, but that didn't mean he had no fight in him. Still, she had gotten a cut on him already, and his landing was hardly graceful, his back towards her as he jumped back to his feet.

Okay, he was starting to think training more often would be a good idea...

She chased after him, cutting the lines of whatever was getting in her way--chairs, desks, you name it, they were all suddenly being cut apart mercilessly. To a normal person it probably didn't make much sense; a normal knife couldn't cut through those things so easily, right? Regardless, that's certainly what was happening.

Upon reaching him, she attempted to stab him, careful to avoid any of his own lines. That would be too easy.

Rather than stop to take in the pain of that stab, he spun his own katana until it was in a prime position for his own offensive stab, jabbing it down towards Shiki. The fact that she was cutting through so much with a knife was disturbing to say the least. Japan had to wonder if her eyes were what caused this strange power... Even the fact that she was taking him on with a mere knife was bothering, but he kept a straight face aside from the wincing at any wounds.

Whatever the result of his stab was, he didn't waste time to throw a punch with his free hand in order to try and get her further away.

With a stab wound and a punch to the face, Shiki really shouldn't have been smiling, but... well, she kind of was. Even if he was the country of Japan, after seeing what he looked like in person, she wasn't really sure if she could expect a good fight. Call it a pleasant surprise. Especially after the punch--he just didn't look like the type to do that.

She grabbed that hand that punched her though, using it pull him closer in so she could knee him in the gut.
