Laughing when Claire shifted in her arms, Amu nodded, taking the lead. "Fifth is...Five yes?" she knew in English yes, thankfully Itoshiki had taught her well enough to get by before he left but she still had trouble with a lot of things. Though having Luke back was definitely another reason for her to improve on her English skills. It was actually a lot of fun having so many English speakers in her new home.

Luke nodded to Amu's translation of 'fifth', "Yep! Five."

He had never been around so many people who spoke different languages, and he liked to listen even if he rarely understood. He scratched Claire's ears, leaving Amu way to head up first. He had never been to the Horton apartments to see Pearl, though he'd spoken to her before, and he was looking forward to meeting her in person.

Pearl was waiting just outside the rooms of Horton 510 in the hall, not too far from the room. She was fairly excited about seeing Claire again, as well as meeting Luke properly. Professor Layton had also said that he was bringing another friend. She could only hope none of the other residents minded.

"Um, hello!" she called, waving to the group and giving a quick bow. "I'm sorry to make you walk over since it's really cold..."

Layton smiled and waved when he looked up and saw Pearl. "It's quite alright. It was no trouble at all."

He gestured at the two children who had accompanied him. "Ah, have you met Luke and Amu before? I'm afraid I can't recall...."

Amu shook her head, not really catching on, a few words were lost here and there. Boy, it was hard keeping up with a conversation when she was still a newbie at English. She grinned as she waved at the girl in return.

"Amu Hinamori, nice to meet you Pear--uh--Pearl."

((Aha, I'm sorry for breaking the order, but I need the log for the AC check... I'm really sorry!))

"I've talked with Luke on the video before, but I haven't met Amu." Pearl smiled at the girl brightly, marveling somewhat at the bright pink shade of her hair. "It's nice to meet you too!"

She remembered her manners suddenly, and opened the door into the apartment. "Um, you can come in! I don't think Mr. Nick and everyone else would mind...

"Thank you, Pearl. It's nice to finally meet you properly!"

He stepped aside and let Amu in first, then tottering in after her. He noted that Claire was sniffing the air as they stepped inside, curious. "It's awfully cold out today, isn't it?"

"Thank you very much, my dear." He stood back for a moment to let the children through first, following after and gently shutting the door behind him.

"Ah -- where should I set this down?" He gestured at the bulky bag he was carrying.

Walking in, she grinned a bit more, happy to be in a warmer setting. She looked over to Luke and then to Layton and then back to Pearl. She understood that Pearl said something about never meeting her and then the usual greeting Itoshiki taught her. Luke said something about...cold? Ah, the weather, right?

And Layton must've said something about the bag because he gestured to it. She looked down at Claire and remembered Layton said something about bringing the cat to visit Pearl. Holding Claire out a bit, she offered her to the other girl.

Closing the door behind the group, Pearl turned around to the guests. "Oh! Um, you can put it down on the table..." She walked over to the living room area of the apartment, where there was a rectangular wooden table in front of a rather faded looking couch.

She brightened as Amu held Claire out to her, and Pearl picked Claire up happily, rubbing her head. Oh, but where were her manners again? Setting the cat carefully on the couch and giving her another pat on the head, Pearl asked, "Um, do you want something to drink? I know we don't have a lot other than water, but maybe Mr. Edgeworth has some tea, or something else..."

Luke looked around the room, taking it all in. He grinned when Pearl scratched Claire's ears, and shuffled over to the couch when Pearl put her down. He scratched Claire's ears, watching Claire watch Pearl.

"Thank you, Pearl...I think I'm okay, though." Claire purred, and he laughed. "I think Claire likes you."

[ooc: Sorry...I have had 3 exams in two days, including my final practicum for my clinical class. Sorry for the late tag X_x;]

"I'm just fine, my dear, thank you." He took a seat on the couch, careful not to sit on anything important, and set his load down. From there, he began to set up the player he'd brought while glancing over the children every so often -- after all, he was their adult supervision right now.

Amu tilted her head a bit, a bit confused. Did everyone English-speaking person drink tea? Layton would bring her tea all the time and now this girl was offering the same drink. Not that she minded, she loved it. She was just curious. She shook her head as a response.

She watched Layton curiously, studying the player. So old fashioned!

"Oh, okay!" She hoped that they weren't all just being polite; it really wouldn't be any trouble. But Pearl moved towards the couch again, crouching down by the low table to get a better look at the player.

"Does it really play music?" It certainly didn't look as though it was capable of that, although she really couldn't tell.

Luke watched the Professor set up the record player intently. He'd heard it play music enough and watched it been set up enough times to know how to do it, though he never personally did so himself. At least the record player was familiar; there wasn't much here in Discedo that was.

"It does. The Professor has a really beautiful record of an opera, it's the one he's brought today!"

"Of course. Haven't you ever seen one of these before? I can tell you how it works, if you'd like." Now that it was set up, all that was left was to turn the crank -- luckily, it was the type that didn't need electricity. From the bag, he removed the record in its sleeve, and set it on the table, then began the task.
