To say that Chopper was excited about being back on a boat and sailing again would have been a huge understatement, but it's not like he could have gone around running down every inch of the boat to show it. He already knew what the boat was like, having investigated every inch of it with Luffy when it had finally been done, but the experience of being on water once more, no matter that it was a lake instead of an ocean, was something that he had been eager for since the Straw Hats had decided that they needed to do more than just sit around Discedo and let the city get the best of them.

No way. That wasn't how a pirate lived, especially a Straw Hat pirate. So Chopper kept himself draped over the edge of the side of the boat, peering down at the water down below and the passing land, familiar ground that would lead to unfamiliar ground. It was adventure time, and with a wide smile on his face the little doctor wondered just what kind of exciting things they'd find on their trip.

From her seasick corner of the boat, Riful watched Chopper. It was... perhaps the first time she'd seen the little reindeer doctor in person, and she really didn't know what to make of him. In her mine, there were humans, who were food, and non-human monsters, who were misguided potential allies and thereby not food because they didn't taste good, and animals, who were food for the human body, and generally worthless to her.

...

Isn't it terribly inconvenient, bringing their food supplies live like that? Riful does it, but under markedly different circumstances-- really now, you could hardly compare the two.

Catching sight of wandering eyes was a thing Chopper had picked up pretty easily just because, it made perfect sense after all. A talking reindeer with a big pink hat doesn't usually go unnoticed. It didn't bother him though, not anymore. But it still felt weird.

His ears perked as he turned his head to figure out where the source of this feeling that he was being watched was coming from, and it brought him toward Riful. The doctor knew seasickness when he saw it so he immediately jumped off his spot on the railing and came scuttling over, a bit of worry on his face.

"Riful, are you feeling alright? You don't look very good. Have you never sailed before?"

"Oh, never before." She doesn't like it in the least, but it doesn't seem like a very PC thing to say. "It's... different, isn't it? I should say I'm not very used to it-- but I suppose that's obvious enough."

But he was really a very nice walking-talking animal thing, all the same. It would be a shame when the humans ate it.

The Straw Hat crew made plenty of jokes about Chopper being some kind of emergency rations, but they'd more than likely be caught dead instead of actually eating their small but still important doctor reindeer. They also weren't too keen on having him end up on anybody else's menu, as had been demonstrated countless times.

"Really different for you and your body, since you haven't before. You can lie down inside if you want. If you're feeling so bad there shouldn't be any reason for you to try to do anything else." Chopper actually grabbed hold of her hand and tugged lightly, indicating that anything else other than her being here feeling sick to her stomach would be more than good for her.

Well, Riful will just have to be surprised when he's still there and not reindeer barbecue by the end of the boat trip.

Her eyes narrowed when Chopper grabbed her hand-- SORRY, it's nothing personal, but she's usually the one to initiate the badtouching and hnnn my personal space-- but she came along compliantly.

"So this is usual? Oh-- I suppose you've done it before?"

He notices that small hint of annoyance but it doesn't stop or bother him at all. He's used to getting that kind of look from Zoro when Chopper frets over injuries that the swordsman says are "no problem", yet he knows that no matter what excuse he makes Chopper is going to treat him.

The reindeer really wishes his crew mates weren't so darn stubborn. This applied to pretty much anyone that needed medical care really.

Eventually though he did let go of her hand, but he made sure Riful was following him toward the cabin.

"It is. Seasickness is due to your body losing its center of gravity when you move from land to water, as well as the different motion of moving on water, which affects the inner ear system. Laying down can fix it, as well as not focusing on the movement of the boat and taking in fresh air. I'll look for either some ginger or medicine for you. I'm pretty sure I found something in the hospital when I checked the supplies before we left."
