It had been a trying few days. What with Washu, his fleeting conversations with those he had attacked... Who 02 had attacked. And indeed, every one of them told him it wasn't his fault. That there was nothing he himself could have done to suppress the starving nanomachines and hold the creature back. That they forgave him and they would never hold it against him.

Of course he knew better. There could have been precautions, and even if his own will wasn't strong enough at that time to fight them, he should have accepted help where he saw it.

That was where the guilt really lied.

It was with a wince that he heard the coffin lid open up, cracking one eye open to look at the man above him. Exhausted mentally, and knowing full well what was about to happen. He had already spoken with Anderson over the communicator, and though there was a fleeting sense of hope that the man perhaps had forgiven him, the ever present logical side of him, the side crossed between the creature and himself, was aware that this wasn't the truth. He clung to it none the less, allowing himself to be hauled up by Alucard, by what tattered remains of his shirt was left. That mane of silver almost hiding his face as he listened in silence to what the other being had to say to him.

He followed him without a fuss or a sound up the stairs, stumbling out into the ash covered world, where, already the falling cinders were starting to turn red.

And there he stood before Anderson, tousled, somber, that tired and waiting gaze locked on the larger man.
