Of course, Sorata had been poking around the inventory for a good forty minutes already. Not really cleaning or organizing, just rearranging (blankets by color, the nicest ones on top for easy access, canned food by type) and looking for things he specifically could make use for. Like can of chicken broth, here. That was definitely going to come in handy.

He figured Mello was at least a little late, but that didn't surprise him. Actually, Sorata would have been oddly disappointed if Mello had been early. Or on time, for that matter. Being late, yeah, that really went with the delinquent rebel image, didn't it? Sorata grinned to himself. He was sure the guy'd show up eventually. Sorata had a small bag chocolate eggs in his jacket pocket, after all.

It took him a couple of tries to get the right room, inventory being spread across three and the hallways completely devoid of life, but at least that meant that when he poked his head into the one room that had a person in it, he could be pretty sure that he'd found who he was looking for.

... Why the hell was everyone around here so damned tall? The only one he'd spoken to in person who'd been significantly shorter than him was Pan, and it wasn't exactly a flattering comparison considering--fourteen-year-old girl.

So he was a little peeved. On top of everything else. "Hey."

"Hello! It's nice to see you! Are you doing well!" Sorata said brightly, standing from the box he was rummaging through, cans of vegetables in both hands. In his grinning, he quickly took in Mello. Definitely a foreigner; nice that he spoke such good Japanese, though, what unruly hair, dresses like a punk, doesn't he? - the facial scar, that bothered Sorata a bit, not because it looked weird, but it had probably hurt to get, and that was...

But mostly: "It's a shame this is the first time we're meeting. Since we're such good friends, I feel like it's been delayed ridiculously. Like you've been avoiding me or something." He laughed as he said it.

First impression: goofball, big kid, even his clothes kind of gave off that impression--long limbs, took up a lot of space; kind of reminded Mello of a big dog in several ways.

For some odd reason, it lightened his mood a little. He still wasn't sure what to make of the guy, but that was more on a mental than a physical level.

Sorata's gushing was met with a Look--what are you, nuts? Five? "Why would I bother avoiding you? I didn't even know what you looked like. There wasn't really any reason to meet you."

Regular ray of sunshine, this one. To be fair, though, today wasn't a day for his better side.
