On Friday, October 28th characters will wake up to find Fortuna looking a little different.
Halloween decorations will be out in full force! From jack-o-lanterns to plastic skeletons to cotton cobwebs to candles hanging from streetlights by string, there'll be all sorts of funny little items for characters to investigate. There'll even be bowls of candy and bottles of characters' favorite drinks (alcohol, juice, tea, etc) placed liberally around all three cities. Nothing like holiday spirit right?
In addition when characters wake on Friday they'll find a doll innocently placed in their room. It can be a doll of any sort: action figure, barbie, cloth doll, stuffed animal, voodoo doll. A little strange, hunh? You might consider tossing it out the window, who needs dolls in a place like Fortuna. Turn your back for the briefest moment though and it'll be right back where you found it. ...Is it watching you?
Dolls cannot be destroyed or gotten rid of. Set it on fire, break it, toss it in the lake, somehow it'll always appear right back next to you in one piece. Getting mad yet? See how you feel when you're alone with it. In the quiet of solitude a child-like voice can be heard coming from all dolls asking one thing over and over in an excited whisper:
TeLL mE YOuR dREaMs hEEHeEhEe...
This can't be good... When the clock strikes 12am on Monday, October 31st characters will get to see how lucky they really are. On Monday characters will turn into whatever doll they received. If your character received a fireman, guess what their new outfit is! Just don't pose half-naked for the Discedo calendar though children are present. If you received a monster doll your character is now... a monster! Magicians, superheroes, babies, bishonens and bishoujos, welcome to your new profession! Because you see it doesn't just stop at the clothes. Characters will find themselves with a strange urge to do whatever the doll whose form they've taken would have.
Turned into a thief? You might find yourself developing some kleptomania. Zombie? The thought of brains is beginning to sound a little tasty isn't it. Princess? Maybe you could go for a tea party. Or maybe crushing your subjects under your iron pink heel. The urge can be a small nagging feeling that easily ignored or an obsession so strong it can't be resisted depending on player preference. Try not to get into too much trouble... hmm?
At 11:59pm on October 31st all characters will revert back to normal. For their troubles they'll get a polaroid of themselves from sometime during the day of Halloween and the doll they turned into, now a normal doll that's quieter than a mouse and can be disposed of at one's leisure. Decorations will stick around until November 5th so make sure to stock up on your candy!
FAQ
Q. What kind of dolls can characters receive?
Characters can receive any kind of dolls you'd like! The only stipulation is the dolls can't be an actual character. So your character could get a soldier doll, but they couldn't get, for instance, G.I. Joe himself. Characters are more than free to note that dolls may look like cheap knock-offs of characters they know either through personal experience or a medium such as television though! Think of it as cheap imports, close to the original, but instead of Sailor Scout Sailor Moon you're getting Beauty Soldier Shirley Moore.
Q. Do characters actually become the doll or do they just get the clothes the doll was wearing?
Just the clothes. Sorry ladies you won't become busty-chested incredibly thin-waisted blond haired idols and guys you aren't going to suddenly be sporting that rock hard six pack with the bronze god pecs.
Q. What if my character received a stuffed animal or a monster figure?
Enjoy that furry or rubber suit folks. It won't be removable. The same for robots. Let's hope you went to the restroom before 12am because otherwise it might be a long day.
Q. If my character becomes a magician/super soldier/flying squirrel can they use magic/benchpress small cars/glide across vast distances?
Nope, sorry. They still have all their normal capabilities. They're more than welcome to delude themselves into thinking they can do these things though!
Q. Can my character take their costume off?
Costumes can't be removed by the wearer this includes through use of super abilities such as bursting into flames. The costumes will be perfectly alright afterwards. The only way to remove them aside from waiting until midnight is... well I hope you have a friend who likes stripping people... Nothing awkward just between pals right?
