Ah Christmas. Next year remind me to ask for a maid.

The last few days were good but very busy. I'm so glad Christmas is over just so I can sit in front of the boob tube and knit.

Friday night, we went to Derrick's brother's to exchange gifts. Saturday I baked cookies all day (remind me next year to stick to macaroons and gingerbread. I made four different kinds of rollout cookies, and it took me six hours!) and then we went to my Mum's in the evening. Sunday we got up early, opened presents, went to Mum's for lunch, Dad's for dinner and then my aunt's until bedtime. Yesterday we had to go to my other aunt's for the huge family gathering. Derrick was sick so he got to stay home. Lucky guy. One of my cousins is four, and by the end of the day I wanted to kick in his head - he was jealous of Rutti, so every time she walked passed him, he would stick out his foot to trip her up, or he'd push her. Fucking bastard.

We were given way too many presents - my Mum paid off the rest of our deep freezer, and bought us an entertainment stand (that we will be returning) and my dad gave us a dvd recorder. I also got: the pattern a day knitting calendar, a gift certificate to the yarn store, three pairs of pjs, lots of chocolate, and money to buy clothes (I went to Old Navy tonight and got a pair of pants, 2 t-shirts, 2 long sleeve shirts and 2 cardigans for $72!) and a whole bunch of other stuff. Rutti got more little people stuff, about 30 books (YAY!), a sled, lots of new outfits and one of those pretend kitchen things, which she loves. And nobody really cares what Derrick got (a cordless drill, underwear, a new cd, etc.)

Tomorrow, Derrick is going back to work (I'm going to miss him I think!). Ruth is going to learn to pick up her toys (too many play dishes and little people animals lying around my living room). And I'm going to take down the Christmas tree.

Bring on the new year!
