When last I posted, I told you about what I needed to do before departure.
Let's just say that only two of those tasks got done - one missed some important bits (later) and the other was technically done at 8am this morning.
We didn't leave the house till 9 am, and rushed into town to dump the hastily prepared resumes and cover letters for the jobs I had thought to apply for this week. Jobs Australia (a local employment agency) kept me up, by insisting I see the person looking after two of the vacancies - and then with a quick drop in at another agency we were off!
8 hours on the road is always a tad drab. We kept things lively by letting the same CD play over and over and over again and counting trees (I'm only joking about the lively part). Some of the conversation was actually quite good, and was surprisingly bouncy - that was until we started talking costuming, and I made the horrible realisation...
I had not packed ANY of my costuming.
I had forgotten my robes, my props, my shirt, my pants - all I had was my boots and a pendant, the later of which Shannon had packed for me. I swore a lot at this point. It's not like I have many characters to costume for as I only play one game - but we were a little over 300 km out of Armidale, so logistically there was no turning back. What bugs me the most, is that one of the things we remembered to take is a bit of costuming that's not even for a game I play!
After a while, I calmed down and tried to think how I could take what I had, and turn it into costume that was appropriate for the character. I think I've got somethings that could work - however, in order to do this I'm going to have to play up the feral aspect of the character. This means I may need to find something really smelly to roll in before the games. Suggestions in the car involved serial masturbation over the clothing before being packed into a plastic bag to 'marinate' for a few days - or - rubbing my head and body with Frank's sweaty armpits. :)
Other than that, the trip went rather smoothly. We got into Sydney at about 6 pm, and surfed the traffic to our place of residence (my mother's) with no incident.
