On to happier things...

My Conclave plot is screwed. It may not sound like a good opening sentence for 'happier things', but I have been slowly trying to formulate something I can do to replace it.

I wasn't having much luck till a few days ago, when I thought I'd do something I wanted to Nationally for a long time now, something to alleviate the problem of the "all powerful" characters dominating and getting more game play then the so called "lesser" characters at National events. All I needed was a good 'story' reason, and then I could plan the games from there.

So this lunchtime, over toasted cheese jaffles - I was looking at how the pockets of the jaffle were different sizes, yet contained the same densities of cheese, and all of a sudden the metaphor hit me and grew...

Jaffles are meant to have two evenly sized pockets of toasted filling goodness - but if the bread is too big or small, or some combination of both, the pockets can be uneven. Even though uneven a melted (most often cheese) will evenly distribute itself so that both pockets have the same density of this filling. Bacon, mushroom, tomato, whatever your other choice of filling is usually in bits, but these, despite the free flowing of the cheese, do not spread themselves evenly - in fact the bigger the pocket, the more there is compared to the cheese. The only exception to this rule with other bit fillings is the rare occasion when cheese is so great it busts out and escapes - often the bits get dragged along with it too.

This then was my metaphor for my plot.

The Jaffle Iron is the entity behind my plot, seeking evenness within the reality it forges. The bread is reality, forged by the will of the Jaffle Iron. The bits are entities alien to all but the pockets in these reality. The Cheese is the overall pool of players.

This might work after all...
