Late+Sad Film=Sadface
I have several pieces of advice:
1) Never start watching a film at 1am. Especially when you have to get up the next day.
2) Never start watching a film that you know is going to have a sad ending at 1am. Because thats how you end up sobbing your heart out when you know you really should be trying to get to sleep :(.
I've just finished watching The Painted Veil, which I've never seen before. Its now 3.40am. And that film was absolutely beautiful, sad, romantic and tragic. In recent years I'd gone off Ed Norton but this film has made me fall in love with him again. I'm so buying the book tomorrow.
