it was a very good past couple days, and i don't want to forget it.
babysat on friday for a bit, and then went to berger's place and had delicious food cooked by henry and sonya. mango-curried chicken, home-made cinnamon rolls, fondue, and yummy shots of butterscotch shnapps with bailey's..
had a lot of fun, and then went home and caught the end of the debates, and joe and i went to bed at 11pm.. on a friday night.
got up at 8:30 and made pancakes together, and then i spent the day at home and went to whole foods with the whole family and sampled foods..
joe stopped by when he was done and was starving so my sister cooked us an early dinner and then we went to lenox to shop. we both found stuff we wanted at express and while we were trying things on i decided to call my mom and ask if any express coupons came in the mail.. she said they hadn't but she hadn't checked that day and she was too lazy to go look but i kept pestering her so she did and sure enough, there was one! so we high-tailed it to my house, went to the forum and bought stuff, and then got yogurt from yogur-le-hee (YAAAAAAY!)
man the pants that joe bought look ridiculously good. seriously. i could not stop checking that boy out.
anyway, we decided to go to emory homecoming around 11:30, and that was surprisingly fun. i expected it to be somewhat like high school homecoming, like a big room with dancing and dresses..
but no, it was outside, with a really nifty dj that was playing electronic, smooth stuff, and they had free alcohol and lots and lots of free food. plus people were wearing a lot of clubbing outfits, and it was generally a very good time.
joe showed me around emory at like 1:30am when we were both kinda buzzed and it was gorgeous. seriously gorgeous. i loved it. the layout is similar to uga's north campus, but they have white marble like stone while ours is super old and brown..
then we decided to walk back instead of catching the shuttle and it was really nice. he showed me the scholar's lounge, and when we got back, bryan and christine had just come home, so we sat in the living and ate trader joe's opera cake and watched the season premiere of 'the office' and went to bed.
then yesterday joe and i got up around 9 and went for a walk through lullwater? very nice pond/waterfall except for some reason there was very little water, which is kinda worrying. there's a huge fallen tree that crosses the lake/pond which joe insisted we walk over, and i was terrified. he said he was the first time too but now he likes to run across it.. we walked across and hiked up this sketchy trail and found this burnt down tower that used to be part of an old fraternity. he wanted to go there at night but i'm glad we didn't, we would have been spooked. we went inside the tower and people had graffitied in red stuff in latin, i think the frat's mottos and stuff.. something about life and spirits..
then walked back and sat on the fallen tree in the middle of the water and talked for a bit.
it has really been lovely weather
fall is the best time of year.
except today it's in the 80's again and global warming is really scaring me.
i was thinking about the south the past couple years.. we had that drought, the tornados, hurricanes, and then effects of it like the gas shortage. so much of it is global warming yet so many people here still don't even think global warming is real.
went to bamboo garden and joe loved it. he pretty much cleared his cold with super spicy indian style chinese food. i wanted that place to be our next outing with berger/jackie, and henry/sonya, but i'm not sure sonya can eat spicy food..
i also want to try to meet rini and angela for dinner sometime. maybe not this weekend but the next, with julie and zebo included. i love planning mini reunions.
overall, this weekend was very nice.
very nice indeed.
