An apology, and a birthday present.

Jan 05, 2011 17:01

Who:  Elizabeth Swann and James Norrington
What:  Elizabeth has come to apologize for disappearing, and all the while, offer James Norrington a peace offering/birthday present.
When:  Backdated to January the 1st, during the afternoon.
Where: James' office
Warnings:  Arguing, though probably just them both being giant balls of awkward.  Maybe angst.  (fft, who am I kidding.  It's Norry.  ANGST.)

She had returned to the Academy for a few days ago, and not spoken to James since.  She'd sent out a mass 'hello' to everyone through the little comm device, even been true to her word to return to the common area.  Yet she'd not seen him.  Not once.  Of the dozens of welcomes she had received, he was not among them.  She had always known that he would be upset with her for leaving without a word.  Or rather, for not letting him accompany her.  She'd just known that he would never approve of her voyage.  To get The Black Pearl back for Jack?  Surely would have made him seethe.  Something she didn't want.  Not when things had just started to be well between them again.

Things had just been... lovely enough before she left.

She knew it was his birthday, always the first of the year, so very close to Christmas.  She'd been brazen enough to wonder aloud one year if he'd ever wished to change his birth date, just so he could receive presents throughout the year, and not just within a week.

But none of that mattered at the moment.  She had an apology to make.  So, cleaned up and dressed in something more feminine (sans hat), she paced about her room trying to summon up something to say.   Which, after some debate, she realized would leave her head regardless.  There was no point to it.  She'd just have to gather her courage and see to him.  Perhaps this gift would help...

Carefully wrapped in navy blue wrapping with white ribbon, she carried the heavy package to his office.  Setting the package down, she set to knock on the door when she noticed something.  She still had this on her finger.  Oh dear.  Now that was something he would notice.   Thinking quickly, she pulled one of the silk ribbons from the package and made a chord, tying it about her neck.  She made it long, hiding the ring in her breast beneath the gauzy neckline.  She only hoped it would stay put.

Taking in a deep breath, she knocked thrice upon his door, hoping he would answer.  She did nothing to announce herself, knowing he would perhaps refuse to open it should he know who stood outside it.
