Well. Amelia could've brushed it off, and said it wasn't the worst expedition she'd been on, but clearly, it was.

Her once only fractured leg was now almost completely shattered, and she had nothing more than her plasma rifle (of which she'd held onto for dear life the entire trip) as support to hold her up with. And it was almost just as pathetic to see her all but limping off the airtram, a groggy but somewhat satisfied look on her face.
She'd managed to sleep the whole way back, something she was incapable of doing the whole trip.

To be honest, she wasn't sure if it was the painkillers or the fact that she was still alive that kept her one of the more cheery members of the bunch. She caught eye of Delbert, raising an eyebrow. He didn't look bunch better than she had, but she thought the man deserved more than a few battle scars, or no one would believe he'd actually been on the same expedition she had only a few years ago.

"Well. That was fun, wasn't it?" she managed to chime, the saying only peppered with sarcasm. It was infinitely better than being in the drunken stupor she'd found herself in the last time she was injured.

"Oh." Her sudden presence startled Doppler, and he looked up to her while attempting to stuff the last of his stray notes into his bag. Even given his surprise, the gesture was slow-going. "Fun?"

He looked away, met her broken leg and felt terrible about it, which somehow made him look back up at her. At least she did seem relatively cheerful about the whole matter. Fun, though? He couldn't help but regard her fondly, somehow, through his (he was sure) hideously disfigured visage. "You're at least half mad."

He sounded like he had a dreadful cold, too, breathing through his mouth and all. Way to go, Delbert.

"I think everyone who actually went had to be at least half. Probably myself more than others. Haven't we had this conversation before?"

She leaned most of her weight on the rifle, just admiring said disfigured visage for a moment.

"You look like you've actually suffered through a pirate mutiny." she bemused. "I'd say it almost looked good on you."
You can almost blame the narcotics for this one. Almost.

Had they had that conversation before? Completely possible. He was forced to come to the conclusion that maybe Amelia really was half-mad.

No matter.

"Pirate mutiny..." Oh, yes. That's right. He had been faced with such a thing, but that was completely different. He... Had to take a moment to separate the two events, figure out why one was brought up and this process only served to frustrate him.

Finally, he figured out where he was again and snapped back into the conversation hesitantly. "I'd argue..." Minor brain trauma didn't suit him at all. "Well, I wouldn't argue."

Huff. Try again. "My nose is going to be off, now. I'm posi-- Positive I'm a fright, but..." Oh, yes. "Would you like any assistance?"

She quirked another eyebrow, this time with concern.

Her playful sarcasm wasn't met with his usual frustration and flustering that she'd taken a liking to seeing on him.

"I'm perfectly fine, it's you I'm worried about. Are you sure you're alright?"

Well... Delbert wasn't about to admit how wholly uneasy he felt on multiple levels, and it wouldn't be lying so much as a fib to deter attention that he didn't need. Other things had to be attended to.

"Oh, I... Uh. Proper tea and some sleep, and I'll be fine, and then I have to see a..." Oh, blast it. "I lost my glasses. An eye doctor... And I'll write to my older sister."

He'd almost begun to pace, paused in that, and, as if it had just occurred to him, asked, "Did you need any help?"

Now he was beginning to worry her.

"I do believe some freshening up and a bit of rest will do the both of us some good. I do have a question though, Doctor, do you know what day it is?"

A perfectly reasonable question, but then again, an obvious one.

Oh.

Well, he couldn't immediately recall, but... They'd left on a Wednesday, right? Twenty or so days, divide by seven... Or just count up. Oh dear. There we go!

"Tuesday."

Nope. That took way too long.

And he was wrong.

"You definitely need to lie down. Come on. Let's go."

And now watch her try to stubbornly wander off with him in tow, on one leg and a plasma rifle. Oh Amy, you and your fighting spirit.

"Now... Come off it." Delbert had walked a few paces and ceased. "You can't possibly think... You need medical attention."

Getting back to his housing and getting commonly taken care of wouldn't be so difficult. He was grown, after all, and perfectly capable. He was just... A little disoriented.

"Your leg's very broken."

"As do you."

Hear that tone? That's concerned beyond being pissed off tone. There are years of knowledge at stake here, and she's not going to risk losing any of it, especially, when it helped her save an entire crew.

tl;dr Doppler, she's worried about you.

"My leg has been broken. There's not much hope for it now, and I'm not going to bother with it until you see someone."

"But--" Wow, alright. The tone was a little frightening, somehow. The fact that her leg had been broken, to hear her say there was little hope for it... Well, now he just felt bad.

But she said she'd bother if he went along and saw somebody, so...

"Well, alright."
