On Keeping Clean

Mar 26, 2012 21:10

About two weeks ago I posted about being a hoarder, the steps I had taken to unfuck my habitat up to that point and a short-term to-do list to make my apartment into a place a sane person would actually consider living in. I am happy to report that, with a lot of moral support from
kriski , chani_atreides and mareen, I have now worked my way through that list!

Granted, I'm still not able to keep my dirty dishes from piling up in the kitchen, but other than that I've really been making progress in many ways. I realize that this is all about breaking old habits and forming new, healthy ones, so I'm taking great care now to always put everything in the right place as soon as I find it in the wrong one. :) Also, I've made space in the bedroom for worn but clean enough clothes, so I don't have to keep them in the living room anymore, and I've been very good about actually using that space.

Additionally, I'm trying to look at my apartment the way a non-hoarder would, and I'm getting the feeling it's nowhere near as orderly as I thought it was. I've found a couple of not-actually-secret corners that have stuff just piled into them, and while they're not filthy and vile, they would definitely have to be neater and better organized if I wanted to claim a sparkly clean home. Between preparations for the easter egg hunt at the daycare and going to England this Saturday (OMG THIS SATURDAY???), I won't be able to tackle these before
kriski gets here. :( Sorry, kriski, I tried. It's still soooo much nicer than the last time you were here, I promise. And if you come here and the dishes still aren't done, please kick me, maybe that will help.
