Alas poor SunCom, I knew him Horatio

This SunCom/Cingular changeover is really starting to piss me off.

All of a sudden I can't text message anyone and very few people can text message me. I can only occasionally call Sprint and Verizon customers, Alltell customers are right out. SunCom claims this problem is due to the fact that they aren't in control of the TDMA towers anymore, Cingular claims that it's because my phone is old and I should get a new one.

SunCom can no longer do much to help me because while they are still my billing agents, Cingular is now in charge of the tower. Cingular can't do anything to help me until I'm officially a Cingular customer which isn't until June 18th.

Cingular's advice is to wait until things get fixed: "sometime around the end of the month." SunCom isn't offering any advice, however they are offering to waive my 200 cancellation fee if I choose to cancel my SunCom service before becoming a Cingular customer.

So I could cancel, go to a company that isn't Cingular and have to go through the crap of doing a credit check again and all that other activation bullshit.

I can switch to Cingular now and have to go through the crap of doing a credit check again and all that other activation bullshit.

I can sit tight till things get better, and keep my beloved UnPlan, but only as long as my phone continues to work. Then I have to find an old working TDMA phone in a market that is driven by GSM phones and hope and pray Cingular will allow me to switch phones without forcing me to change my plan.

OR I can sit tight till the 18th and simply switch to a Cingular plan and phone without doing a credit check or paying an activation fee.

Big fun.
