An Honest Mistake
God. How beautiful is fucked up Derek? Patrick Dempsey deserves some major credit for this ep. The show was finally back on gripping form. I couldn't take my eyes off it.
It was great all round really but I have to say... DEREK. Was he this deep this whole time? Was he suffering from god complexes and inner torment about death this whole time? Was he so broken and needing Meredith and her tequila? If he was I would I liked to have seen a little more of it this season.
It makes me love his character even more if that is possible. Because it's not straight forward. He's the Derek who loves trout fishing and being outdoors, he's the ridiculously romantic and eternally optimistic divorcee who still has faith in marriage. He's the angry and sometimes jealous and also arrogant Shepherd Method. And now, he's the so empathetic he's suffering, beating up his best friend because that's the only person strong enough to take it, tequilla drinking, crying human being. (I want to say poor baby but I sound like a fangirl. Poor baby!)
For me, in this ep we finally got the payoff from when he met Meredith. It's not just for the happy and the shiny smirking sex he needs her, THIS IS WHY THEY ARE TOGETHER.
